haha...

I was running a program called AdAware ( which can be found at www.lavasoftusa.com ), which scans my system for things like this:

From the AdAware Site
With its ability to comprehensively scan your memory, registry, hard, removable and optical drives for known datamining, aggressive advertising, and tracking components, Ad-aware will provide the user with the confidence to surf the Internet knowing that their privacy will remain intact.

and guess what it found:

Yikes.

Yeah lots of programs will appear there, more than likely aol made it there because it was a) a tracking file or b) some stupid thing like the gain tool bar and crap like that.

Oh and FYI people make sure you check for updates everytime you ran Ad-aware. I once did the test and without the update it found 20 or so, got the update, ran again and it found another 100 or so. :)

only 52 files found. Which is better? Spybot search and destroy or Ad-Aware?

spybot search and destory, hands down :)

I use them both. Spybot really looks for programs mainly, and AdAware looks for cookies and reg entries and the like.

Use them both, I have, and Spybot found some that AdAware didn't, and vice versa.
