View Full Version : Should I switch over to TR on emerald??

This is even going to be odd even for myself.

I'm thinking of switching to TR from my VS characters on emerald.

VS I had fun: Running people over with a Thresher, Liberator, Reaver, and for a few hours a magrider. I've known the hardships of dealing with the POS lasher before it was boosted (I dropped the cert a few days before and got a thresher)

I don't feel the helplessness that I used to when I was playing VS, that was the fun part about being VS.

I've invested some time on my main character on Emerald (skullhead<--main , Captainidiot<-- lived up to the name, notahero<--definatly). BR14 Cr1 I've only lead a few squads but its just not fun for me (Besides I"m not exactly the leadership type).

The question is "Should I switch to TR on emerald from my VS?" I got the reasons to do it but should I??

-Forget what I mentioned-
After looking at the TR population I won't switch at all.
I just have to do a few things differently and have fun.

skullhead im going to be honest with you... teh game itself just using different weapons and empire population is boring. I could really show you how this game is suppose to be played, while i cant speak for all of TR as a whole, i can show you what my team can do. If you like playing the underdog, i think that TR has been the underdog ever since the first patch that nerfed us, but thats beside the point since i plan on re-glorifying the TR through good organization and bring back the days of beta.

if you want to stay vanu... of course you will still have the lasher that will make you guys strong in many situatios, and the magmower. TR dont have anything that cheezy.

*cough* pounder *cough*

If you say its a grief machine, it is in the hands of an unskilled user. The rocklet and thumper are grief machines as well, but if used correctly are devestating, so please don't use the old "but it griefs me alot" argument.

Every empire has some strong weaps.... or "cheezy" weaps. TR isn't excluded... the Max Pounder and the Striker are good canidates.

And in regards to the original question... Emerald/TR doesnt really need more people... we just need to get the majority of our people to remove their heads out of their ass and we would do well on a more consistent basis. And on that note you would have been really pissed to have deleted to come over here.

You would have been able to watch a base you fought valiantly for fall 6 mins later when everyone moves onto the next base even though the enemy has taken the tower and shown every sign that they are about to seige the base.... they still all leave.

no, change to nc :p

but if i were you id just stick with my main character. Go with the VS, they are definetaly the most different and special class. stay with them, but if you really really dont like it, then dont

I'm staying vanu, I personally don't like the idea of using the lasher. I used the jackhammer before the end of the beta and it was fun to use, everything seemed balanced. And yes I do agree the jackhammer is easy to use: the first hour I used it I took out 3 Vanu just outside a base next to a rock. I found a great NC Vanguard driver and I became an excellent gunner and we had a high kill to death ratio in the vanguard it was great. I'm still great gunner its just sad to point out that most of the Magrider drivers out there don't exactly let their gunners do their job (IE running over people next to a mine field. The driver gets the kill but drives into the minefield). The vanguard is the best tank, the Driver focuses on driving and not shooting.

I have yet to start the 172nd =Mad Hatters= outfit. I'm just not sure if any vanu would be interested in a Semi-Commando outfit that wouldn't follow the zerg pattern and just blow stuff up behind enemy lines (if its destroyable we will blow it up: that would be the slogan).

Max pounder = not nearly as good since it got nerfed, and almost useless against other maxes unless anchored.

Striker = Highly overrated, unless its a newb pilot they just hit the afterburner as soon as "Missile Lock!" comes up on the screen. Only good for scaring them off really. Although libs have no afterburner, they can take 9 shots + and keep going, I dont know anyone who carries more than 3 extra ammo boxes.

Face it, the only way to TR win is by skill and zerg. Not because are weapons are uber.

i agree with bismarck 100% on the pounder thing

however the stryker i think is a pretty powerful weapon
if a mosquito or reaver is fighting in the heat of battle he might not notice a missile lock warning (never flown either so i wouldnt know though)

just my 2 sense though

Well like all AV weapons the Striker is definately a weapon that one has enjoy the "feel" of. Back when I was a n00b with nothing but Med Assault and RF armor.. I was asking my outfit about Spec Assault or AV? Everyone said "Striker!" So I tried it... and I didnt like it. I think I killed a Mosquito or two. But like was said... most pilots just jet away. And as far as hitting tanks and such.... its not too bad if you can keep a line of sight on it. Its certainly not a bad weapon by any means, but I didnt care for it one bit. So I switch to Special Assault. I'd probably be more successful with it now that Libs are in... they are usually hovering around waiting to be shot down.

Like you said don't start the argument. Everybody has their own opinion, and if no body asks for it, they should keep it to them selves.

I have to agree the striker is overrated by a large margin. its a situational Weapon, when its in a good situation it pwns, When its not it sucks.

Why go to TR? the only action they get is on amerish and we own them there anway, so where is the fun?
