Okay, I know I am probably in a biased forum here, but I am curious about what your guys' thoughts are about TV vs. gaming. My wife and I have had this discussion before, and she feels that gaming is no different than watching TV. What do you guys/gals think?

I personally believe that gaming (online or any game for that matter) is better than watching TV. First, one's brain activity is definitely higher than sitting there like a lawn dart. You're carrying out troubleshooting techniques (solving puzzles if you will). Second, there's the eye/hand coordination that you are constantly using. I chalk up my excellent eye/hand coordination (not to brag...just making a point) to gaming. Finally, typing/communication skills increase because in the (online games) you have to communicate. Granted some may use l337 5p34k, but they are still communicating. Heck now you have the voice comm s/w too, so you don't have to type (at least as much). Not to mention you get to "meet" some pretty cool people too. Now none of that occurs while watching TV. That's my take on TV vs. Gaming. What's your guys/gals opinions?

Gaming requires use of hands whether television only requires it to flip channels

Gamming pawns TV.

TV sucks, it is just a bunch of multi-million dollar companies trying to sell you things that you don't need. TV isn't entertainments with a few advertisments thrown in the keep it afloat, it is a bunch of advertisments with a little entertainment thrown in to keep you watching. Every thing in the media is geared towards feeling of inadiquacies so that you will buy there product. What I especially love are big corps. that try to promote indivuality. Dr. Pepper, a taste of originality, so drink Dr. Pepper, so you can all be original, just like everyone else.

In summary, TV sucks*.....

*except Orange Country Chopper, Monster Garage, and Seinfeld. :D

It's already been proven that most gamers have better eye hand coordination and they are more aware.

Like in a Racing game you need to check your map, your gauges, the road the other racers and maybe your damage (depends wich game)

They tested on hardcore gamers, they have the highest

and they tested normal joes (who watch more tv dont play games much or at all) they rated lowest

Then they played games for 72 hours (normal joes) and they ranked higher then the first time :D

So...TV requires the use of hands...

TV only requires the use of the flexor muscle in the forearm and the thumb...gaming requires the use of both hands usually. It depends on the game of course.
