Does anybody know if this is a good game? I have limited my self to 2 Pay to Play games at a time. I figured PS will be my action packed p2p game, now I need an RPG p2p. I am sick to death of DAoC, so I come here to ask you guys how Everquest is.

Also, can anybody toss me a link to a good everquest site that gives description of the classes and races and stuff like that. Thanks.

Avoid this game at all costs. It's fun for the first month, then it gets boring but you can't quit because it's THAT addictive.

Geez, Well then, since everquest is satan, what MMORPGs would you suggest? Anything but DAoC.

i just downloaded earth and beyond on fileplanet to try for 5 days. i dont understand one freaken thing. people are saying all these parts and names and groups and shit and im like wtf!!

the places are beautiful though....really pretty. i love deep games (not evercrack) but ive heard this game is easy and gets repitive. anyone have it/played it???

so far it seems pretty good. but ive seen bad reviews (although they were just a tad lower than PS, so i dont know if i should take them seriously)

As fun as you make that sound :p I was looking for more of a traditional RPG, where you control a person, not a ship. If anyone knows of a good replacement MMORPG for DAoC please let me know. I am really sick of DAoC, but I don't ditch it just cause I like MMORPGs, I despretly need an alternative. :(

I suggest that while you wait for WoW that you try this game called runescape. It's got lame graphics, but it's a cool game. Watch out for the people though, some are really nice, but lots of people are bitches, too.

What about SWG? Good? Not Good?

I played E&B for 5 days. It's really good if you like really repetative stuff. The places look AMAZING, but getting around the game and doing missions can be extremely SLOW and BORING.

I personally enjoyed EQ. And I have friends that still play. I only gave it up because I wanted to keep my wife and life. :p It's a very addicting game. I hate to admit it, but i am intrigued by EQ2.... I am worried it will suck my life away as did EQ :p I say if you are thinking of EQ, then try it. But heed our warning....very addictive. That's why it has been dubbed "EverCrack" :p As for any other MMORPG, I suggest waiting for WoW. I am going to look at both. But it all depends on what you are in for. If you want PvP action then I suggest another, ShadowBane. However I left SB because it was too buggy. If you want RPG action then wait for WoW.

I say get it and simply use a little thing called restraint. I've never played but the BOHICA gang is gonna get into it soon and i'm anxious because the only bad thing i keep hearing about EQ is how addicting it is and that is NOT a bad thing.

Everybody says that it keeps you addicted long after it stops being fun. I know that most MMORPGs have that quality. What makes EQ soooo much more addictive then something like, oh say, DAoC?

Was good, then i hit lvl 115 and now all i can do to level is jobs... go here, pick up that, take it back, just keep doing that OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER.....

its fun for the first 100 levels, then it gets boring.

if you wanna play for a bit, lemme know what server ur on, and contact me.

It was one of the first MMORPGs with graphics, and it drew many many people. EQ draws you in bit by bit. You start off being able to do pretty much whatever you would want to do with what you have. After a while you accumulate acquaintances and a few friends. Group with them for a while and make even more friends, get in or start a guild. play with your guild, raid a bunch if you're into that, if not hit level 65 and have nothing to do. It is fun, and then you get into shitstorms with another guild, or you start nitpicking little bugs that SoE let through, or look at class balance if you're a melee character. If you're not a melee character you get to listen to melees bitch about it. You get sick and tired of the game after maybe 8-12 months. You've acquired so many friends, and you've put so much work into 2 or 3 characters you don't want to hit the delete button, and you don't want to cancel your account. Anyway, i posted a similar thread a couple weeks ago, will edit a link as soon as i find it.

I guess it was more addicting because I had friends that I would get online with and game. I played DAoC and think that EQ had more depth in game play. But that's just me. However, I did like the graphics and spell effects in DAoC much more :p

Cool.... Is your mom going to play too? That's what I loved (and hated) about EQ is that people of all ages played that game. My friends Mom got into EQ too. I thought that was sweet. Most Moms don't even know and/or have the time or want to play games like that.

I only say "hated" because sometimes you had some young or just a smacktard train a whole freakin group of mobs on you....man that part always sucked....:(

*edit*

AsylumX, I like your sig quote. Tooo damn funny....LOL

As for your earlier post (link), I haven't followed EQ since the first expansion. That was about the time I quit. With if what you say is true....the game has gotten worse then I may not go back. I will talk with my friend. I may just wait for WoW. Who knows.... I am curious with how Blizzard is going to handle this game. I have heard a lot of negative issues with how Battle net servers were handled etc.... Hopefully it will better than SOE. We shall see. Won't we?!

You people have not convinced me that EQ=Satan. I don't get manyu real close friends over the interweb (thats right, I could write you all off like that! ;)) so thats not a factor. As to having problems letting go of characters. For those of you who play DAoC, I deleted a lvl 50 stealther, lvled the hard way (no power leveling) just to start a warden. I play for fun, not for lvl advancement. :D

I am getting EQ. If it is as bad as you guys say it is, see you next time my computer breaks, if it isn't then I got myself a replacement for DAoC. :D

WoW won't be run on BNet servers. Their going to set up a whole other bunch of them just for WoW. Blizzard's had an amazing track record for releasing bug free quality games. The only thing wrong with blizz games are the hacks and crap like that running rampant through the games (diablo 2, namely) but they're starting to clean up their act and are banning CD-Keys.

But i don't foresee that problem with WoW, since most, if not all of the files will be serverside, eliminating hacks trainers and other such bullshit.

I've started on a small scale back into EQ, i just duo with my brother at the moment, and i still have fun in that respect. Not playing EQ, but talking with my brother, i'm about 3 hours away from home at the moment, and this way i can still spend time with him :) .

Anyway...as i said in my thread, it's not all bad. There's great things in the game, just don't let it get out of hand. Like someone else in here said, use restraint, and use a lot of it. EQ has a way of killing your judgement and sense of time.

Anyway, i'm going to stop now before this turns into another rant, lol...There's actually some people asking SoE to put Addictive, Use at your own risk stickers on EQ boxes, so heed their advice.

Laters :)

Then, all of the sudden, i will see that morrowind icon on my desktop, start it up, and forget the word action for a month and a half. Thats why I want to have both an action filled MMO game and a RPG.

My PS clan has a SWG division, they all LOVE the game, they said that it's like everquest but everything is refined and works very very good. i always laugh my ass off when i go into the swg teamspeak channel and listen "hey man, can you translate this for me? i don't speak wookie yet" saying it all serious and stuff, i can't believe the retardedness of mmorpgs

I really don't know what's funnier, that you think 600 hours is a lot or that you typed the entire first sentence in all capitals, then didn't capitalize a single thing afterwards...

Anyways no EQ is not that bad. In fact it's pretty good which is why it's so addicting. As long as you're not an idiot how addicting the game is doesn't matter. What matters is that it's a huge world with a lot of things to do. Graphics aren't all that pretty but the game works and better than any other MMO out there /shrug

As far as how long it will take you to get bored, that depends entirely on the person in question. It took me about 20 months and 60 levels to get bored but that's probably because I just always wanted to hit level 60 and when I did a lot of the drive to play the game just went out of me.

As far as the best all around MMORPG out there right now it still wins hands down. SWG has more potentioal, but hasn't had the time to build up content. AO I hear has gotten better, but I'll lose a testicle before playing that game again after it's craptacular release. DAoC reminded me of EQ, but crappy. Earth and Beyond has a neat story...and that's honeslty about it. WoW might be worth the wait, but it's going to be a wait, and a loooong one if the delays in creating the "intricate" Diablow two is any indication.

Right now EQ is probably your best bet. On the upside if you do get it you can get a station pass and get it for about 9 something a month and then play EQ 2 for free when it's relased, which after tiring myself out on the game is probably the only reason I still have my account :p

Blizzard's had an amazing track record for releasing bug free quality games

*cough*Diablo 2*cough*
Not to mention the fact that Blizzard has never tackled anything as complicated as an MMORPG. RTS games are not exactly rocket science. Am I saying I think WoW will be craptacular? No. What I'm saying is that I just wouldn't expect WoW to be this awesome game from heaven, especially not anytime soon after launch.

My point about the servers was that if they handle the new servers like they handled the BNet servers then it will be a short game play with me. I don't know. There are so many factors involved. I will just wait and hope that it/they learn from all the other MMORPG's that are out there.

As for EQ, I have a RL friend that's thinking about getting EQ2 who is still currently in EQ and it would be a way to stay in touch. That's why it was difficult for me to leave EQ.

I may startup with EQ2 because I look at it as a great game with the needed improvements added. I would particularly like to be able to solo if I don't want to group or my friend(s) are not on. In EQ I was able to solo until about lvl 23 or so as a Mage. That fire pet rocked....anywho, I am digressing. As far as it being addicting, it is. Restraint is highly needed and something I need to work on :p

As for EQ==Satan, I don't think that at all. It just can suck your social/active life away like a Hover vaccum.:p

I play a MMO? that's great. It has bad graphics, is mainly text based, is slow-paced, but its incredibly fun and more strategic than the best game of StarCraft you will ever play.

www3.neveron.com

Neveron's server is never reset, and you build an empire. You'll never be the strongest empire, too many people have gotten there ahead of you. It's free, but donating gives massive rewards. Factions replace Guilds of Clans, where groups of empires are allied.

Mechs and Tanks fight in Land Wars to take enemy land. It's based on battletech, so many dice rules are in effect. Each Mech has certain weapons, amount of armor, and speed. I recently captured 4000 population in a successful LandWar.

Population powers your Commercial Revenue Buildings, your Factories, your Research Facilities. Eventually, yes, with the right researching you could produce mechs. But for everyone except two empires, that's a long way off. Genyosha Prime has managed to make small mechs, but it donated massive amounts of money and combined two empires together.

Arenas are there for those that don't wish to LW. It's a fight to the death match between two units of near equal Battle Value.
I don't do Arenas much.

All in all, it's a great game.

I'm waiting for WoW. In fact when my PS subscription dies (1 year) I will mostly likely just go with WoW.
