I was just thinking about how annoying it is when your squad gets split up, and it happens far too often. Few players know what it menas to manually bind yourself to a matrixing panel, and even fewer actually do it. Right now, the only reason I see to really manually bind is if you need a specific vehicle that you play with constantly, or if you are close to gaining a BR and want to be able to get to a bio lab to recert. Since spawn points play such a huge role in the outcome of battle, I think there should be a way for commander to use this tactically.
I don't know if its been said before, but i think the squad leader should be able able to bind a spawn point for the whole squad. This should be in addition to the nearest available spawn points (these usually don't work properly anway), as well as each person's own manual bind. This spawn point is available as long as its owned by your empire, and you are still in the squad, or until a new squad spawn point is chosen. Like other spawn points, you can reach it by entering a spawn tube and deconstructing.
This will allow a squad leader to fall back to a "safe" base and bind his squad, while they continue to fight on the front lines. Once they are bound, they can enter a nearby AMS, descontruct, and return to the base to pile up in reavers, or whatever they need. There are a lot of tactical possibilities avaible with this feature, and it should be relatively simple to implement.
