I did a search but couldnt find anything. The one thing that may turn me off of this game is paying, will we have to pay a monthly fee? I REALLY hate that and need my paycheck for other, more important things (girls).

Does anyone know if it will be subscription like everquest (yech.)?

Yep, just like EQ, probably the same amount. So you may want to think about that for a while, but if you look at the game and it's layout, you'll see that it offers a lot that isn't included in other arenas.

BTW, you're not fooling anyone with the girl thing, just admit you're poor. :p :p :p

There is absolutely no way around paying for MMOGs. The bandwidth cost, server maintainance, staff salary and customer support all cost an arm and a leg. Box sales can't even come close.

But, still, it's only around $10 a month. That's peanuts. And unless you work for minimum wage -- hell, even if you work for minimum wage, $10 a month is nothing.

hey, dont make fun of me...anyway.

Yeah, I think I can handle it, but its the idea of having to pay a bill every month or else my (probable) addiction will be cut off. Im hoping theres is going to be some sort of demo, somehow, I dont want to pay if the game sucks monkeys.

Yeah, you'll be able to play the open beta. So you'll be able to see how much it kicks ass.

OOOOOOOOOOOO BETAAAAAAAAAAAAA :drools: :drools: :drools:

I have to say I'm a little curious, I really thought that the closed beta would be around here in the first two weeks of Jan, but so far, we haven't heard a peep about internal. It's a little curious.

Heck I'm a cashier, and $10 a month isn't worth bothering myself over. I'm just worried about the costs of the system that will be able to run PS well costing my last few months' paychecks.

Trust me, if you have a job, the subscription won't hurt your pocketbook that much. It rounds out to about 33 cents a day, which is realy nothing. If you're realy worried about not haveing enough money, offer to take a couple of hours at work from a friend every few weeks.

....or pack a lunch. Don't go to the movies once a month. Mow your neighbors grass. There's a shit ton of ways to make some green. Hell become a gigilo.

A very large, downloadable trial version isn't out of the question. Alternatively, it's customary for MMOGs to offer one free month when you first buy the game, to determine whether you like it or not. So you can wait a couple weeks to hear some opinions and reviews on the game, and then based off of that decide whether you want to pay the cost of the game itself (w/o the fee) and play the free month to see how it is. And then you go from there.

The only way companies can afford all the servers, staff, bandwidth cost etc. is with a monthly fee. There would be no way ever that they couldn't take monthly pay. This system isn't like Battle.net so don't say "battle.net is free so this should be".

If your worried about PS being a bad game, Hamma gave it a 9 1/2 out of 10, gamespot said it looked really good, IGN said it looked really good, Gamespy gave a very generous review also.:D

Maybe not.. but the devs have said this isn't going to happen. I'm sure they will adhere to the industry standard of offering a free play period. Usually it's a month.

Man, I don't want to see the kind of girls you can get for $10/month! I'd rather stay at home and be disease-free.

Not sure if Dave's letter was up when you posted that, but he did say this about external beta, which was very nice to hear.

2) External Beta is coming soon. We should have more info posted here about it in the next couple of weeks and we'll launch into it soon thereafter. I know a lot of you signed up back in late November and are wondering what is going on. All is well and improving rapidly! We just wanted to ensure that the game was in a state that merited an External test before sending it to you all and we're closing in on that now.

It's really starting to hit me now, playing the game is so close now. Almost forget about the game waiting all this time, hehe.

Don't get your hopes too far up, just go ask the ShadowBane folks how their beta is going.

I'm excited myself but I don't want anyone getting too worked up in case of additional delays.

I don't mean to stereotype, but it seems like most people who complain about the monthly fee have never played an mmog before. Mostly cs players.... :D

Well, it's true. I've played a few adn I've been able to get used to it. Don't forget those battle.netters. They try to say that if battle.net's free so should this. They'll never understand.
