www.pricewatch.com to find the lowest price

You're not going to find a better price unless somebody steals one and sells it to you for cheap, trust me. :) Or you could try to find stores that are having sales and stuff...

You said you're looking for a whole new machine in the $500 price range?

Sorry man... even with parts prices being as low as they are these days, a good rig (especially a PS one) is still going to set you back about a $1000. Can you save up a bit more?

Its tough, very tough to get a good system for the $500 range but not impossible. Especially if you can do $500 now and maybe add to it slowly to continue to improve it.

If your building totally from scratch its even harder, as case, ps, kb, mouse, floppy, OS, etc can add up. Hopefully you have some stuff you can carry over from previous system or get help from friends.

Watch the sites listed here, and forum sites that ppl sell stuff on like AnandTech's and Rage3d's. Just try to keep to ppl with good HeatWare.
