Every once in a while, while playing Planetside, I notice these little things that stand out to me. Like how there's a refridgerator and a bank of sinks behind some of the respawns. Or how if you get out of a dying vehicles at the EXACT right time, you can survive it's explosion. Or that very flat, smooth rocks damage your vehicle as much as running into trees. Or that there seems to be a consensus among people that the best way to go AFK is to crawl into a body of water as far as you can without losing oxygen, and crouch. (I have screenshots of some people from opposing empires doing the same thing that I had conversations with).

What are some little quirky things you've noticed about Planetside?

i like the beds below the break room (the break room is the room next to the spawn). WHO'S GONNA SLEEP? i also think the aliens in jars instead of a break room in some of the bases is cool. I think that's what the vanu looked like.

Also: there are fire extinguishers EVERYWHERE. yet, no one ever extinguishes plasma damage.

When someone runs upstairs, once they hit the top of the stairs, they appear to others to continue to sort of fly up in a diagonal line parallel to the stairs. The person who appears to be flying up will behave normally, not knowing that he looks sort of strange, though.

This flying up stairs thing can be a major pain in the ass when fighting in towers, because while they're flying up according to your client, they're actually somewhere beside you instead, shooting you. I've died several times because someone flew up the stairs, I shot the air where he appeared to be, then all of a sudden my client updates or whatever and he's right beside me, just finishing me off.

If you land hard in a deliverer, the wheels go through the fenders for a brief moment :p

Anyone ever notice the fire extinguishers inside the bases. Might be cool for events where we would have to use em. And also, Ifiltrators seem to be ammune to Deliverers. I try to run em over (vice versa also) and they are like a rock, and it blew me up.

The way deliverers bounce straight up and almost at a 90 degree angle when you run people over sometimes ;)

Run someone over on the crest of a hill and you can pull off some fantastic rolls.

I like how when I got infil suit for one day a magrider was comin at me, I crouch it goes over me and I live (barely). I get in reinforced armor a magrider comes by, I crouch and get mowed over.

This only happens to me in HUGE tower fights. We'll be trying to take a heavily defended tower and we'll get close to the door. I'll rush in firing my rocklet gun and go out the other side. If I crouch close to the wall to heal myself, the bullets will start coming through the wall and hit me. Therefore I have to back off from the wall to heal/repair myself and I'm out in the open as Jackhammer/Lasher bait.

yea, you know how people sometimes buy badass cars, or cool big things to make up for something not so big, but infact really small? well i think thats what happened when a dev put this in the game

it is a life goal of mine to get an AMS deployed on top of that formation. I know I can do it, somehow.

And this one time, at band camp . . . . errr Plantside

The situation, driving along a sunderer at top speed (em, isnt that a contradiction in terms? oh well) and I see this NC in reinforced exo. He doesnt see me, I head right for him to run him over, and well I do go over I go up at a 45-50 degree angle taking my front wheels off the ground and then my front wheels go down and my back wheels come up until I finally get over him. I got a crush kill but I didnt realize that I had run into the speedbump from hell lol Wish I had taken a screenie.

Yeah when I had my Marauder I could run over anybody with minimal speed bumpage. But when I ran over a cloaker, HOLD ON!!!!! I've flipped like 3 times becouse of this.

If you're driving up a hill in a Magrider or a Thresher and it becomes too steep to climb, the vehicle will start taking damage until you back off onto more level terrain.

Mines, boomers, Spitfires, and motion detectors are all considered "armored", so you'll actually kill them even quicker with AP rounds.

It's fun playing "bumper boats" in your sanctuary with a group of Deliverers.

Ceryshen only has one bridge, which I call the "superbridge" as it's easily the tallest bridge in the game. I mean WOAH. And, if you put an AMS on it and angle it just right, people who spawn from it will immediately fall off and have to walk all the way around. (I found that out accidentally).

By the way, if the Lodestar can carry AMSes, then you'd probably be able to deploy that one on that rock formation.

crouch-walking with a suppressor is less accurate than running with a suppressor

EDIT: oh yeah on oshur east of mithra there is a huge rock formation u can walk, or drive to the top of it perfect for stunts or sniping post

oh yea, there are a few holes, out of the blue, that go straight down, and there are no ways to get out, and theyre big enough to only find a max or a soldier, i know there is one i think east of Ekera on cyssor, im not sure though, but i know its around Ekera, the only way out is to die, and i remember shouting, someone kill me!! and we were running to the next base, and a idiot decided to jump in too, and it took a while to get killed, it was funny

hmmm The incredibly weird physics of the deliverer... I mean that thing must weight a ton... and yet it bounces like there is no tommorow!

dont forget about the galaxy, that thing friggin bounces, and at times, i wish that when it bounces and your in the air you could fly away and not have to wait for you to land, i mean, sometimes it bounces, and it slides and goes in the water, and then your day sucks

what you will need:
-one (1) sniper certification
-one (1) bolt driver
-one (1) measuring tape

what you will need to do:
-set yourself up somewhere safe (sanctuary is fine) and zoom in to max zoom with the bolt driver.
- while standing, strafe back and forth with one hand thus moving your ENTIRE BODY. measure the CoF's maximum size.
-while crouching, wiggle the mouse back and for a little bit, thus moving ONLY YOUR GUN. measure the CoF's maximum size.

neat isn't it?

Slaming on the breaks on a vanguard and doing 3 flips forward and blowing up.

An infantry man can fall 200 feet and get back up without a scratch, but a max autorunning can hit a little rock, bounce about a foot into the air and take 10 damage...
(maxes take more falling damage than an infantryman at the same height)

You can bail out of any aircraft in the game, at any altitude any position any speed or orientation safely but you cannot bail out of the drivers seat of a ground vehicle thats moving at all.

Landing on slopes doesn't hurt.

If you're back to back with someone, you can hurt them (has this been fixed since beta? I only just returned and have no tried it).

If you're holding a weapon in agile armor, you can crouch jump at someone and if you hit them right, you'll get launched a good distance.

If an AMS is deployed on a hill, the front is lower than the back, jumping will allow you to buy from it like normal.

You can hit a mosquito at slow speeds in a tank and flip it over, and then drive it under the ground, without taking any greif.

You can get vehicles stuck with two wheels in their air by hitting another vehilce at slow speeds.

Once you have the vehicle in the air, you can crouch walk under it as far as you can go, turn around, and crouch and stand over and over, and the vehicle will move with you.

You can bypass the continent lock by using a preset waypoint, clicking find waypoint, clicking where you want to drop and clicking "launch pod" before you're dumped back to the global view while sitting in the HART.

You can shoot and move as a corpse by... better leave this one out =D

If you're holding a weapon, and sell it's cert, you can't put it away by pressing it's corresponding button, you must switch to a different weapon instead.

Vehicles can do wierd things when you hot drop them onto buildings.

You can land in the airpads on air towers when you hot drop, you can also get stuck in other surfaces while hotdropping but this is most common for me.

You can go straight through the roof of a building when hotdropping a tower, this is actually quite convienent, espically in MAX.

You can draw and fire your weapons while hotdropping, and, perhaps this is only for me, the hotdorp sound does not go away when you land.

That's all I can think of for now, perhaps I'll think of more later.

 that is awesome. whats up with those half-naked people in the crynogenic tubes in the second basement of the bio lab? Its kinda wierd, I guess they put it down there since no one has a reason to go down there anyway.

You cant always land a plane on the elevated landing pads...sometimes you go straight through (once i went through and all of a sudden my reaver flipped and i was stuck hanging upside-down from the bottom of the pad...

Your aircraft blows up. I bailed out this morning from a Reaver and it continued along, blew up, and took out a teammate. I laughed so damn hard for a while :D

If you park your lighiting next to a wall and exit the vehicle you can actually walk through your vehicle. Also you can see the inside to the vehicle. It's kinda cool. The Lighting has two hand pads on the left and the right. I will try and get a SS of it and post it. If I remember..hehe. Try it with other vehicles. You may be able to do the same as well.

If you place it right you can plant boomers on the very top of harrassers. insta-komikazi. Me and my suadmates took out three magriders like that. this has only happened to me once, but I think you can place a boomer and go as far a possible (I was on the other side of the continent) from it and detonate. I got 20 kills and I NEVER saw who died.

Demon's Dragoons: hehehe hahaha MUAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!.......BOOM

No matter how steep the slope or how long the fall, as long as you point your vision straight down you won't take any damage at all. If you look out as you normally would you'll take massive damage.

You can place Boomers on ceilings, this is easiest above a tower CC. I don't think it's possible to get a kill with a ceiling boomer, however.

You can plant motion sensors to allow yourself to jump on top of objects that you couldn't otherwise reach unless you were in a Vanu MAX suit. This can allow brilliant hiding places for infil which are above the normal vision of opposing players who are sweeping the room with DL.

Just discovered a new one :) You can climb to the top of Interlink facilities in only agile armor. (well, you can't get to the tip top, but you can still get on the roof surrounding it, which is a fairly fun defensive position since infantry inbound to the CC rarely look up there)
