I havent played swg. But reading the forums i have been given a certain idea about camp sites.
Not really sure what im getting at with this post. But how about some sort of mobile base camp a bit more complex than an AMS.
Should cost a lot of cert points.
Maybe some sort of vehicle creation point. maybe not actually created there, but there should be a wait time and they could be dropped by the hart or something. I dunno, just a random idea.
My first post got a bit of abuse with the title tents. And it just started my drunken mind thinking.

I am not saying the idea sucks or anything, but what would be there purpose and why would anyone want to use them over the cheap (2 points) AMS?

Mobile base would be kinda neat. Maybe something like:
-3-4 cert cost
-Can't be deployed in any SOI
-20 min respawn timer to get another
-Allows MAXs to suit up but the timer for getting a MAX at a mobile base is something around 7-10 minutes.
-Medical terminals
-Equipment terminals
-Maybe once the repair and rearm pads go live toss one of those in as well that repairs/rearms at 3/4 the rate of a base one.
What I really want is some sort of depoyable radar for CEs ala Tribes 2. Motion sensors are neat and all but something that can be spiked down and reveal non cloaked enemies and vehicles on your empire's radar with something like a 40-50m radius cylinder going up to the flight ceiling would kick ass.

Something I have been pondering for awhile...
You guys now what a HMMT (I think that is the right accronym) is? The US Army using them. They are these massive 8-whell, 4-axle trucks. They have modules that attcahed to the back to turn it into whatever you need.
Mobile repair, mobile medical unit, artillery, troop transport, etc. The configuration for this vehicle is limitless.
I was thinking how perfect a vehicle this would be for planetside. You cert in the HMMT for like 4/5 points. Then depending on your class grunt/medic/engineer/commander you would have options for which configuration you would like. Hell, tie these into base ownership as well.
Biolabs + Medic + HMMT = Spawn, Equipment terminals ( no max available), and med stations.
Biolabs + Advanced medic + HMMT = Advanced Spawn (0 wait time), Equipment terminals (max available), and med stations.
Techplant + Engineer +HMMT = Armor repair station, vehicle repair, aircraft repair.
Techplant + Advanced Engineer +HMMT = Advanced armor repair station, vehicle repair/rearm, aircraft repair/rearm, Equipment terminals (max available)
Dropship Center + Advanced Engineer + HMMT = Mobile Aircraft and vehicle spawn
Techplant + HA/SA/AV/Sniper + HA/SA/AV/Sniper + HMMT = Mobile artillery (think single tank buster shell from lib)
Interlink + CR5 + HMMT = forward observation with an SOI style radar
AMPstation + HMMT = Mobile Advanced Nanite Generator (when deployed near the silo, an endless flow of nanites is available)
HMMT = Plain old troop transport (1 driver + 1 machine gunner + 14 infantry + 4 maxes)
Hmm...so much to wish for...
