EDINBURG, Texas (AP) -- Six men, including two brothers, were shot to death early Sunday in a home invasion by four or five intruders who were probably looking for weapons and drugs, authorities said.

The mother of two of the victims was tied up with electrical cord and forced to look at a wall as one of her sons was shot in another room, Sgt. Rey Ramirez said. Four of five other victims were found dead inside a separate ramshackle house on the property. The fifth victim was found outside the structure.

Police Chief Quirino Munoz said there may have been two sets of brothers among the dead, some of whom were shot more than once. He said police would need another couple of days to identify all the victims.

Ramirez said no arrests had been made.

The woman, who freed herself after the intruders left and called police, told authorities one of them was wearing clothing with the word "police" on it.

Ramirez said several incidents have been reported during the past year in which people identifying themselves as police have invaded the homes of suspected drug traffickers and stolen money and drugs, but no one had been killed in those cases.
This statement gives me the feeling that the dead guys were not nice people.
/me walks away before he starts the guns in homes arguement again

What I got out of the story was that the people killed were likely into the Drug Trade in one way or another. So the criminal element they were involved in got them all killed.

This is why Drugs are bad.

I came home to my apartment today, and 1 of the 2 locks on my door was locked that I never lock. First I thought it might be the maintenance man. But I didn't call them out, so I got my 9mm, and searched the apartment. No one was there of course, but neither was a slip saying the maintenance man had been either. I should call the office tomorrow and find out. I know I didn't lock that lock though. But I'm really paranoid. :D

Some whacko killed his wife and left her body in his closet for 2 weeks till the neighbors noticed a funk. He said his D&D game made him do it. Anyway, he was best friends with a guy I went to church with, and the body was stashed like a block and a half from where I lived at the time.

I looked out the window the other day and 4 cruisers were dropping a guy who lived in the apartments I lived in, and then they searched his trunk and found over 10,000 bucks worth of meth.

I'm telling you, I'm about to get a shotgun. Keep it loaded with bird shot so as to inflict pain but not pierce walls across the house. http://www.mossberg.com/pcatalog/Law.htm I like the mariner.

Never know what would have happened if they were armed.

There could have been a standoff that gave the police time to respond, or the murderers could have been killed.

Maybe the people who broke in would have been scared and stoped breaking in.

Maybe the woman would have been killed too.

MY point is we don't know for sure. It used to be said that if you're being raped you shouldn't struggle and you wouldn't get hurt. However, more recent studdies showed you're more likely to be injured or killed if you don't fight back.

by four or five intruders who were probably looking for weapons and drugs, authorities said.

If they were drug dealers (didnt read the whole article, only what Nav said), who had firearms, it seems that didnt do them too much good, did it?

Bleh, this is the kinda news that pisses you off. I don't think people having guns in their homes is enough actually. They should have training with a gun so they know how to use it effectively if something ever should happen.

When I get out of the military and buy a home I'm definitly going to have a beretta in my nightstand.

You do realize that stuff like this happening is extremely rare... right? This isn't like an everyday thing in America.

Europe's got its fair share of crime as well.

I agree that guns aren't enough, but that the people should be trained in useing them. This has always been my position on guns. Educate people on how to use them properly and we can avoid accidents, but trying to remove them all togeather, is doomed to f--- things up more(at least in the US).

I dont know about all of Europe, but last I heard, Switzerland was a relitively crime-free country, and every house has an automatic weapon in it.
