i cant post at sony cuz i canceled my subscription, but i have to agree with you 100%, after 2 months in beta and 2 months live i was though with the game. I havent replaced this game, but lets just say im enjoying Counter-Strike... sad really. SWG looks like the place to go untill i see a good fix up here or wait for Halo (PC) and HL2.

I have to say this is the only game in years that has held my attention for a couple months. I usually don't even play games or play them for like a week and say screw it.
At first in this game, I was a noob and ran around and played with everything and that's why I stuck around. Then it was to be with my outfit and use strategy to capture bases and what not. Then it was to gain BR and get my kill count up just to see how many I can get.
Now I don't even feel like logging on anymore. It's just so goddamn boring and pointless. I want to win, I want something to happen when you lock a cont. Not that it just gets hacked back by a guy in a reaver when your force moves on.
I haven't played most of the games you guys talk about like BF1942 or Counterstrike and all this, but I have played SOCOM and Halo and I'd have to say I like those a lot better. Why? Because you can win. You fight, you kill everyone or capture an objective, and then you lose or win.
In this game you have a lot of cool shit and eye candy, but you fight and fight and fight and fight for no reason. Nothing happens. If you locked every single continent nothing would happen, not a single goddamn thing for a feat such as that. Sure you could have bragging rights, but who gives a shit.
To answer your question, I've started reading more than playing PS and for what PS costs, I could buy another book a month. That and college starts soon, so screw PS. I'm pretty much finished at the end of this month unless something amazing happens.

If you want to 'win' a game, play a single player game. There is no winner to an online game, unless you count statistics, and those only count in games like Counterstrike. I happen to enjoy the game, although it does need some work. I'd love to get above 20 frames 100% of the time for instance. I hate watching ti go from 120 frames to 6 frames because I entered a battle area. Hopefully they will work these problems out, but when you play for xp, you have ruined the game for yourself! When you let a game become work, you can't blame anyone but yourself. I've seen people do it in EQ, AO, AC, DAoC, and UO. If you can't sit back and enjoy doing similar things alot, then you won't enjoy any MMO out there.

Note: I like the game played since beta, however the game has major issues that still haven't been addressed.
Also the "drive" or carrot for the game is xp. I'm br17 I don't need xp , but that drives 90% of the ppl on the server.
I don't not have to "win" however the game does need depth. Play the game a few more months and then see what your opion is

I've liked the game since Beta as well, and I still like it.

You are posting an assumption as fact. You do not know what the drive for 90% of the population is to play the game, you are simply making a somewhat educated guess.
The "drive" or carrot for me is the opportunity to log on and work together with people I have known for years from past teams/tribes and I have a blast doing so on a nightly basis now that I can play again (accursed patch messing me up).

I've played the game for, what, three and a half or four months now? I usually know after that amount of time if I'm going to keep on enjoying an MMO. I am enjoying it and will probably continue to enjoy it for a long time to come :)

My attention span for games is so short, that when I found PS, all my friends would not buy it to play with me, instead they waited a month, they figured if I was still playing in a month the game must have something going for it (considering the average game lasts me 2 weeks)
well Im into my 3rd month now, all my friends are shocked but are also playing it and loving the game.
If you know me, then thats quite an achivement!

The fights and the battles are exactly why I play. I don't want some boring end game. I don't need the map to reset at some point making me start all over again. Fighting and working with others is all I want from the game. Oh, and the occasional new toy or element of game play that gets introduced is nice also.
I've played CC and Tribes2 for years and every tower or base fight in Planetside is no different than say a mission change or map change every 30 min or an hour for other FPS.
I just want to fight, fight and fight.

FACT sporkfire did say in a thread that the game "carrot" is xp.
While I fully agree with you on your points. That too will grow old
:( Simple because your friends are moving on due to underlining gameplay issues. I'm looking around my outfit and ppl I've played tribes with for yrs are either moving back to playing tribes and/or moving on to another game.
I'm hoping I'm wrong and they'll will fix things. But since may little gameplay fixes and/or changes have happen :(

Oh don't ge me wrong we've lost a ton of people. Prior to launch we had over 100 people signed up and divided into three platoons. However since launch we've lost our two leaders Avail and Jacka$$, almost all of our captians and in fact at one point we were down to only about 20 members.
Some left to go back to tribes 2 (h8 on u Jacka$$ H8!!!) or DAoC (Die, Neo and Avail and a few others I forget) and a lot of them just never followed through with getting the game at launch and then never picked it up. But we 20 held firm and held ourselves up in the ranks although not as well as when we had 30 or 40 active members. We worked through the BS of a new game and dealing with people jumping ship as far as Planetside goes and now we work towards becoming a force to be reckoned with once again.
That's why the game will never really get old for me. We improve in the way we play and the way we work together every tim we get online. That is what kept me playing Tribes 2 for a year and a half and that is what will keep me playing Planetside.
Well...that and I get to blow shit up :p

LOL. I am too. I love the diversity of the game and that you can change certs at the drop of a hat and not have to wait 24 hours to use that new cert.... Granted you have to wait 24 hours before you can use another cert. I am cool with that.
And if you have a outfit/squad who is coordinated....woaah...now that's where the fun begins. I will keep playing this game for a while....at least until WoW is released. But for now, I am having a blast. I am on every night. Oh well, ya can't please everyone. :p
One thing I will have to agree with (what someone said about incentive) there isn't alot of incentive. It would be kind of nice to have some incentive for winning/locking a continent and such, but this is a FPS though. It's like Hamma or someone said..."content...what content....you blow stuff up. What more do ya need?". I paraphrased, but you get the idea. If you want in depth and char dev type game, then PS is obviously not for you. The MMORPG's are probably your speed. I personally like both types, but only have time for 1 or the other...not both.
