its a strange anime, thats absolutally amazing. Story is hard to follow, but strangely addicting. I suggest you check it out.

yeah, I like. Adult Swim (on cartoon network) is showing it right now. I'd suggest you check it out. its on 12:00 AM on cartoon network, Mondays through Thursdays.

its on cartoon network, its strange, but good. its on adult swim, just before blue gender, and its a really expensive anime, considering its 2 eps a dvd and a dvd is like 20 bucks.

ive seen some of eva and some of macross..tho the few macross episodes i saw were really confusing...i got boggled and woke up in the fetal position 2 days later..it was still good

well,i think there are 2 episodes where Rick gets shot down or ssomething and freaks out and has visions while hes in a coma, its weird, and funny too, like, "Corperal Rick hunter was shot down today as he tried to take off the carrior on a bicycle" but i guess you gotta watch it to get it. and dont buy anything beyond the end of Macross, that shit blew, but i bought it all, all 130 bucks worth, though the new generation series was okay, but masters blew

umm theres another macross, i only saw 2 eps. its only OVA i think. but this guy crashes on an island, and its inhabited by a tribe of ppl. who are cultured, but see elecrticity and citys/bldgs as evil things. theres also these weird birds i think? :confused:

Lupin The 3rd is my fav, That Lupin is one slick dude. Although Cartoon Network really fucked up their order. I can't go straight from the intense drama (in the later eps) of Trigun (side note: Why, Wolfood, why?! You were the coolest one! :tear: ) to the lighthearted and downright comedic Lupin The 3rd...I can't just make a mood transition that quickly.

Gundam SEED is currently my favourite anime, is anyone else watching it, they are airing it now in Japan but 2 days after airing a fan sub usually comes out, its on episode 43 out of 51 at the moment, its really good, even for non Gundam fans

I like Family Guy, that show is funny. I'm glad they put it on adult swim! Now I can watch it on my 32 inch plasma TV again:D

One time I watched a Cowboy Beepobob episode when I was drunk. I don't remeber much, I know there was this weird kid that was random and didn't do much but be weird. Not sure if it was a he or she but I think it was good. As for the rest of the show I was completely blank. Something about downloading brains or whatever. I just liked the weird kid.

I just saw End of Evangelion this morning (well, last night for me) at 2 a.m.

I'm a little more than half catatonic now, and I'm buzzing with questions, but I have a different forum for that.

FLCL is the weirdest thing I have ever seen, but definately funny (it's right behind Love Hina). I couldn't stop laughing in the first episode when the giant robot arm and the robot they keep around the house (forget his name) came out of the kid's head, then fought for no aparent reason.. Then again when the alien girl broke it by hitting it with her guitar.

The patlabor series for instance is exelent, but the masterpiece ghost in the shell is unbeatable for me.

Hellsing and Love Hina are my favorites atm. Well, I watched them all.

My cable company sucks. In FL there is Comcast and Adelphia. One gets Sci-fi as basic, and the other gets Cartoon Network as basic for free.

For some reason in my area, I GET NEITHER!

So I never get to see Trigun, Bepop, etc. etc.

Bighoss, thats the worst attempt at spelling Cowboy Bebop I've ever seen :lol: that character you liked was named Ed. Shes a female (tho its hard 2 tell) and is a uber hacker from Earth. there are 2 eps that come 2 mind when you say "downloading brains".

I suggest you check it out sober, and give it a good chance.

Macross Zero was pretty tight. I saw Eps 1 and 2 recently, and liked them both a lot.

I've seen the entire Eva series, but need to see the movies. I have them both on a CD next to me, but i can never seem to find the time to watch them.

I desperatly need a DVD burner and a DVD player in my room.
That'd give me something to do while dads using the comp. :D

If you've got a program like iMesh, your anime problems are pretty much solved. Fansubs are legal as long as that show hasn't been confirmed for a North America release. Like, fansubs of the Ghost in the Shell TV series are still techincally legal. Fansubs of say Noir are not, as it is being released here in NA.

But, there's a catch. The 'illegal' fansubs can be legal by one simple catch: as soon as you recieve them, do not share them with anyone. I think there's an option in iMesh to lock sharing with other users.

Don't forget to get a spyware remover!

Fushigi Yuughi was amazing. LONG, but very cool.

Irresponsible Captain Tyler. Don't even remember when I first saw it. But, it was funny as hell.

Macross Plus. 4, 40 min Episodes. Short and Sweet. Cool characters and a good story.


The new DVD version of Akira. They cleaned up the picture a lot and re-did the dubbed so the story actually makes sense.


The first couple of Seasons of Ranma 1/2 was fun. After a while it just got too repeatitive.

BubbleGum Crisis. New and Old.

Record of Lodoss Wars.


Haven't Seen Macross Zero though. Any of you all got a good link for a place to read about it?

well, i know in Cali San Fran there is a cable company that has the anime network, and its like umm, where you can select what show you wanna watch, and it shows it to you and you can pause it and stuff.

but as for the series ive seen

Record of Loddos war, the original DAMN GOOD!

both Bubble gum Crisis, i loved them both, well i havent seen AD police yet, nor have i seen the BGC series thats just 3 episodes long

Star Ocean EX, it copies Star Ocean the second Story, up untill episode 4 when it totaly veers off, and they didnt do the second series because not many people watched it in japan, so it dosent finish the story

i saw Gun Smith cats, wasnt all that good

Seen all the Fatal Fury movies, they were okay

Palabor is good, but there is better anime

and Akira isnt as good as everyone says

Eva is in tie with Macross, macross as in the first series, and ive only seen episode one of MAcross Zero, and Macross Plus wansnt as good as the Macross series, and if your gonna buy macross, dont buy it in the form of the series Robotech, buy the uncut version from japan, though itll be expenisive, but much better

ive seen alot of other stuff, but i wont discuss it now

oh, and i forgot to mention the series that comes in second place for me, its called something like Here and now, then and again, or something like that, its really good, i only watched the 1st DVD. but from what i hear, its supposed to make you cry in the end, and not in a chick flick kind of way, but in a drama kind of way, well anyways, from what ive seen, i like it, it goes from light and happy and then like 10 minuets in its like, dark and evil

watch both the movies, in order, the first movie lets you know where your at and what happened in the series, and the second movie replaces the last two screwed up episodes

FLCL is the best anime ever. That's all I have to say. Oh, except for that the entire plot is basically explained in the last two episodes, so if you've missed the first four, you can relax.

FLCL only has 6 episodes, so I suppose it is really a cheap series to buy, 2 episodes a DVD, 3 DVDs ...yeah..that kinda beats the others, like ruroni kenshin or kodomo no omocha (which both have over 100 episodes)

I think kodomo no omocha is pretty funny..or should I say bizzare? I dunno..It's not licensed in the US yet sooOOoOoOo you'll have to find fansubs or something like that.

Di Gi Charat is pretty funny too, 16 or so 3 minute episodes of pure, strange comedy.

Jin-Roh is good... but kinda like Art film good, not Wow let's watch it with friends good.

Ninja Scroll is kinda Fan Boi ish for me... Still good, but it's not good enough to be so many peoples fav... the Tv serries is pretty good.

As to new stuff. Here's a break down from someone who spends WAY too much time D/L anime.

Samurai Deeper Kyo... Good, fun, sorta the Heir aparent to Kenshin, but not as good, and doesn't work around the Fight of the week feel.

Noir... Been a fan for a long time, and whenever those chicks start killing folk, it's fun... sometimes waiting for the killing to start get a bit long!

GUU... If you go get a single fan subbed tittle this gotta be it. Guu rocks! (may have to be as twisted as me to get all the jokes!)

Initial D.. groovy, if you like cars you'll like it, I also enjoyed X-D

MAcross. I've been a fan forever... I searched for months for a copy of Do You Remember Love and was excited when I got it (just to watch Hikaru bitch slap MinMei) I bought all of Macross 2 just waiting for it to get better. I was at the American Premier of Macross plus (anime Expo 93) I watched all of Macross 7 just for the story, though I hated the CONSTANT reuse of footage... and I can say that so far Macross zero is owning them all.

initial-D..I got one DVD of that..

The animation (besides the computer animated car races) was that of speed racer... I bought it from an anime island at a mall and the guy kept saying "this is not bootleg" sure enough, it was bootleg, lol. I dunno I prefer anime with very detailed art. Anime like X, hellsing, cowboy bebop, etc. I watch everything anime though (excluding digimon/pokemon/anythinginvolvingkidscontrolinglittlemonsters.

Ok normally I don't demand people to watch a series but this is an exception.

I just finished watching Haibane Renmei, another work of art by Yoshitoshi Abe, the maker of Serial Experiments Lain and NieA under 7. Abe's work NEVER fails to amaze me, and Haibane Renmei is no exception. It was the most beautiful, touching series I have ever had the pleasure to watch. It is a MUST see for any anime fan. In short, it is set a town that is surrounded by a giant wall, and no one in that town is allowed to leave. There are normal people, and the Haibane. The Haibane (which is NOT pronounced high-bane, rather high-bah-neh) are people with angel wings and a halo. You can see in my sig Rakka, one of the Haibane.

Everything about this series is beautiful, from the artwork, to the story, an all around work of art. I went back and watched the ending 3 times in a row because it was too good to only see once. Everyone who reads this and likes anime, check this series out. The first DVD will be out August 26th I believe, but if you can't wait, look for the fansubs. I'm certainly buying the DVDs when they're out, regardless of the fact that I have the whole series downloaded already.

FLCL was, as hamma would say, borked. I couldnt follow anything, it was so messed up, nazis were everyone. I will never watch it again.

As for characters:

3. (theres a ton of other people i can think of, but none are just as cool as Eikichi Onizuka and Spike Spielgel.

FLCL is amazing bebause it is so damn insane. Its deffinatley not one of thoes serious love/war stories, but instead was intended just to let the production team (GAINAX) to cool off, and have fun. this anime, is for anyone with an open mind. it will make NO sense the first 4 episodes, then suddenly, on the 5th episode you finally begin to understand a small part of it. Has anyone seen Lupin? theres a scene in FLCL, where the producers poke fun at Lupin the III's opening sequence. And of corse, you've seen or at least heard of, South Park. Yep. they make fun of their animation too.

In an anime where the 2 first characters are introduced like this...

"In their first meeting, Haruko runs Naota over with her scooter (he survives), revives him with his first kiss (in a "Matrix" "bullet time" 3D-style sequence), and then bashes him in the head with her guitar."

You know that this isnt going to be a normal anime. but thats whatmakes it so great!

in a review, its described as... "FLCL is everything Neon Genesis Evangelion was and everything it should have been. Bravo, Gainax, for having the cojones to release something so passionate and refreshing."

If you started watching last night, Oni, you saw the last episode first, so it'll make even less sense to you. I REALLY think you should try it again, theyre showing the series 1 more time on AS or, you can DL it fansubed. (Dubbed is actually VERY good, and makes the anime a lot easier to understand) The series restarts TONIGHT, so plz try it :)

oh, and the nazi costume was a 1-time-thing. it actually makes sense when you've seen the entire series.

Do a search on google, for "FLCL" and read a few reviews, i think youll find most are extremely good.

FLCL was meant to be crazy, it was as someone said, a way for them to cool off and go crazy...Kinda like the excel saga series by Koushi Rikudo. I watch it and don't try to make connections and understand the deeper meaning of giant monsters coming out of a kid's head.

My favorite characters...

3. Excel (Excel Saga)

most hated anime character...eh..thats a trick question for me, I can't hate any anime characters really...

1. MAximilion Sterling (Macross, noone is more pimping or a better badass pilot than he)
2. Shingi, even though he was a pussy, he wasnt a bitch, he wasnt stone cold, he wasnt manipulative and other things i hate in people, that characters in Eva were, he was a kid, younger than some of you, who was caught up in something bigger than him and he didnt want to be there, and he didnt run away, well, two times, but you all could understand the second time, i wouldve done the same thing. and i think thats what made eva so damned good, the faults in the charaters, more realistic than the bullshit characters in other anime

I hope Haibane Renmei makes it's way to adult swim eventually... It doesn't seem like the anime that would appeal to the larger percentage due to the lack of character development and action.

Though those 2 things are missing, I think no less of this series as the greatest work of art I've ever seen.

I'm watching Kare Kano right now. The animation is kinda odd, kinda like a mix between anime and manga. It's a pretty good story though. Mixes drama and comedy really well.

And don't let the word drama make it sound bad, the use of that word around here really makes it sound bad, but it isn't.

Oh yeah and before I forget, everyone who liked Excel Saga, go check out Puni Puni Poemi. If you haven't seen Excel Saga yet, see that first, a lot of the comedy in Puni Puni Poemi is in reference to Excel Saga (it's by the same director, and is basically the same besides new characters)

Going back to the first page, i also watch Gundam SEED. :p I havent really watched much Anime, but after hearing about SEED (on this very forum, actually) i ended up watching a few episodes, then downloading the series.

Just recently Bandai licensed SEED in North America, so fansubbing the episodes is illegal. The majority of the SEED fans have ended up watching the RAWs (all Japanese, not translated) and reading up on what they say. People would make scripts, etc.

SEED is perfect for me, since i like the serious/sad story, plus Gundam action is always good. :D

Got a couple other Animes lined up that im checking out now, too.
