Increasing your XP gained for kills in a friendly SOI would make it more desirable to defend a base.
Don't know if this has been said before, so flame away if it has. Just an idea that popped into my head. :D

Ode to a wish for the layperson to stay and defend.
It might have been said before, but that doesnt make it a bad idea ;)
yep unfortunatly the majority of the PS' gamers out there atm are attracted to the XP. Its pretty bad when we have to find ways in convincing people to defend bases.
As far as sony is concernd, lets hope that the outfit ownership of bases might promote the defence of bases a bit more, even if it is just an outfit defending.
Again great idea, only thing I see wrong with it (construcive critism) is that we should not have to goad ppl into defending, they should see the overall benefit of defence.

I remember this being suggested numerous times on the official boards right after release when all the old beta players noted the xp change... I don't recall ever seeing someone come up with a realistic argument against it.

Ya...imagine a base held by an outfit with maximum of 10 ppl online at once being zerged by ELH.
BTW, is there a benefit to base ownership?

This is all we really know at the moment:
The enemy will be told its a "insert outfit name here" owned base.
It will probably drain outfit points to own the base
Anyone in the outfit will be able to spawn at that base as if it was sanc - so - you could have up to 8 spawn points
2 ams
2 tower
3 base
and sanc

This is a fantastic idea. Howver, it seems like the devs already reduced the amount of XP you get per capture (and what's up with the 5,000XP celing?), and I'm not sure as to their reason. Call me a conspiracy nut, but I think its a ploy by the marketing department to keep you addicted to the game so you keep playing and paying.
I don't think theres anything wrong with chasing XP, BTW. Everyone does it except for BR20 CR5 peeps. After all, that's how you get more implants, more certs, and more tactical information so you can you offer more to a squad. It's just unfortunate that its doled out so slowly. This is a FPS after all, not an RPG.

+10% XP in outfit owned base?
:D :D :D
*ADDED*
From a marketing perspective...yes decreasing XP gains is a good way of keeping people wanting more. Look at EQ and how insanely difficult it is to get to the max level.

Interesting that you feel it's dealt out too slowly. I feel it's dealt out too fast. I personally think you should have to put in many more hours than currently to get to BR20 CR5. That way it would take even longer and would have less people abusing the higher rank abilities. The longer it takes to get something the more you appreciate having it and are less likely to abuse it.

True BUT.... taking longer to get to BR20 CR5 doesnt mean that the people that get there wont abuse the higher ranking abilities, it just means the people that play 8+hrs a day will get there first. That is in no way guarantting you non CR5 n00b's.
I personaly belive CR should be earned, not gained like exp. maybe you need a certain number of votes from people to gain CR. Eg. you lead a squad and they think you did well, they have a button on thier screen that allows you to select if they are a good comm or not. then that comm would get one vote.
After X votes they would gain a CR. of course things like multiple votes would not be allowed. This would mean any high ranking CR would have lead alot of thier sides people at one time or another. This also makes the CR more well known.
[edit] actually i think this idea deserves its own thread.. moving now)

The Devs said they wanted BR 20 to be reached fairly easy and not be extremely hard to get so everybody could enjoy the game and have a variety of options to specailize in.

I totally agree regarding the CR exp system. See your CR exp thread for more of what I had to say on this topic.
