View Full Version : new cert on test server

I dunno if you have seen but on the Test server there is a new cert: it is called 'ATV' and is a cert that allows you to drive both the basalisk and the wraith - however, you cannot any longer get the two vehicles separtely. SO instead of gettin gjust a wraith or a bas, for 2 certs each, you must get this ATV cert for 3.
Whether this is just for the test server and will never make it into the final servers is unknown. However, it may do, and... stuff.

Hmm, so that leaves it down to the Harasser and AMS for 2 Cert Vehicles then? Maybe that will bring more AMSs out in the field.

That just plain sucks.
As far as I know, the only difference between the two is that one has cloaking ability (when driven by an infil), and then other has a gun. That's it.
So right now it's pretty simple, for those who want a bike :
Infil? get the wraith
Not an infil? get the bas.
This change ... well, it doesn't make any sense. The vast majority of the people who want the cert only want it to use one of the vehicles, and now they have to pay another cert to get something they have no use for. Bleh.
Oh well. Just another reason to get the AMS or haras instead.
Edit :
AMS being one of the only 2-cert vehicles now is just plain stupid. The damn thing should *at least* cost 4 certs while having a depleteable NTU silo. Or cost 6 certs and be as it is now.

Noooo! That throws of my entire balance of cert points! And there is no way I am going to give up my good ole' bassy.

Wow, I'm indifferent on the change, but the wow factor is that the devs actually did something the community asked.
Im not intrested in what they actually did, but the fact that they did something. Again - disclaimer - I was not pro or against this, just bringing up the point that the devs did something that the community asked for.

well, im not sure if i will be getting it or not, if i do, it might throw me off and leave me with 1 cert point at br20

well, it can be, you see, the wraith is 2 certs, and the baskilis is 3, and this ATV cert is 3, but some people were balanced with the 2 cert wraith, it wont be a bad thing as long as they keep the ability to get the wraith alone, and it would be stupid to leave the ability to get the baskilis alone, considering ATV and baskilis are both 3 certs, but if they just add the ATV take away the ability to get the baskilis cert and keep the ability to get the wraith, it should be okay, because some people may not want to have to waist that extra cert point

Umm the basalisk currently costs 2 cert points...

and the baskilis is 3
Well actually the baskilis is only 2 cert points, I have one. I have no idea why anyone would want botht the atv's not unless you blew one up in 2 mins and you didn't want to wait about 3 mins to get it again. Nobody even asked for this and the devs did it anyway, oh well.

oh, i looked at te cert calculater, it says the basky is 3, reaserch, must be wrong though, and its still a good deal, especialy if you want to be both a infantrymen and a infultrator, like me, but i might just go with AV instead

or you could just get them seperately for 2 cert points if they decide to do that

ATV is 3, so getting them seperatly would make them waist one cert point

>>You sir are an idiot!<<
Why?
Mobile spawn point and mobile equipment terminal, not to mention you can matrix to it. With just a bit of coordination this thing can transport an entire outfit across a continent easily. It's also the best single-man transport when going to enemy territory, given the fact that if you drive there with say a harasser, and you die - you have to take the entire trip again, whereas with an AMS, you can just spawn 100 meters from where you died and be good to go.
As it is now, there are usually as many AMS's as there are combat vehicles (with a single exception in the reaver) in a lot of the long-lasting base fights. It seems rather lame to me. That a truck with this much potential is as cheap as a motorbike with a forward mounted machine gun.

Just FYI, the Bask used to be 3. Got knocked down to two a few patches ago... I think in the Skygaurd patch.

Heh, despite the benefits of having lots of AMS's for a long, drawn out fight, people still use it rarely. I've gotten used to the dissapointment of having to spawn halfway across the map because one single person didn't think of bringing up an AMS.

I must just be in a very AMS-fanatical outfit ... we usually have 3~5 in every 10-man squad, with three of those squads working together. Often cut down on it a bit, simply just because we'll end up parking too many around the enemy base for them to find and hack.
I'd really like to see the AMS get a lot more expensive; right now the game quite often is "find the AMS".
But well, the whole LLU thing might just change overall gameplay enough to change this.

It should be 2 points for the ATV cert; you should be able to use both the Wraith and the Basilisk.
If you're an infil, you'd probably use the Wraith.
If you're not an infil, you'd probably use the Basilisk.
So I really wanna know why they would charge 3 points to get 2 vehicles out of the deal, when each person would probalby only use one over the other almost every single time.
It'd be nice to keep those certs to spend on something else more interesting. Must suck to be a BR4 with little to no certs to spend, but when he/she is in a jam, they'd probably have to walk to the next base because they don't have points to spare.
Basilisk and Wraith should only be 1 point each. If SOE actually thinks they're any good for combat, they're smoking crack. It only makes it harder on new people who have too few cert points to spend, and thus potentially costs them subscribers.

well I like the idea of getting one or the other , and the cost of a 3 cert points seems right, many a times It would be nice to have been able to hack that lone wraith out there when All I have is Basilisk, and them's the only wheels around.

I like the ATV cert Idea, I hate the 3 cert cost of it though. Make the ATV cert cost 2 and then when you grab a wraith or a Basalisk start the timer on both Vehs, so you don't always have a veh to provide a little ballance.

*BUMP*
The ATV cert finally made it to the live servers and after a day, they changed it to a 2 point cert. Only tried these in VR training but makes a good tranport for my sniper when no one else from my outfit are on. Thanks Devs for listening to the people.

Actually, with th ATV cert, you don't get 2 vehicles. You get 3. Basalisk, Wraith and ANT. I actually see quite a few ATV's running around, trying to run people over, or trying to be invisible. For a cloaker, a Wraith is extremely important to get where you want to get without being seen too easily.
I can understand why people would want to drive a big vehicle all over the place, because of the added protection, but ME, I don't like to be a big target. Most of my kills are gotten by being a small target, and NOT being noticed, or simply ignored. I couldn't drive across an enemy's base openings in a Mag, and get away scot free. As it is, this morning, on Amerish, I had to run across said base opening. Out flew a Reaver, Liberator, and 2 Mosqs, and out drove a Lighting and a Sunderer. Had I been a Mag, I might have tried to attack, and probably died for it. But as it was, I simply hid, and cursed for not having enough weaponry, or Squad members with me. Incidently, I was trying to get to an enemy tower to hack it.
So that said, having, say a Basalisk might have made my trip faster, and I wouldn't have been such a big target. But seeing as I don't drive much anywhere, spending the certs for that isn't cost worthy for me, except that I COULD ride one in my Reinforced Anti Vehicle gear. You might say I could do the same with the Harasser, or the Buggy, but those are still big friggin targets, when your alone, and in enemy territory.

While I was flying down the road yesterday (only 20 kmph over) I noticed a cop with a radar gun sitting on top of a bridge. Naturally, he pulled me over, walked up to the car and asked me, "What's the hurry?"
I replied, "I'm late for work."
"Oh yeah," said the cop. "What do you do?"
"I'm a rectum stretcher," I responded.
The cop said, "What? Rectum stretcher? What does a rectum stretcher DO?"
I said, "Well, I start with one finger, then I work my way up to
two fingers, then three, then four, then my whole hand. Then I
work until I can get both hands in there, and then I slowly stretch it until it's about 6 foot wide."
The cop asked me, "What the hell do you do with a 6 foot ass
hole?"
I simply replied, "You give him a radar gun and park him on top
of a bridge....."
Bail: $100
Ticket: $95
