View Full Version : Problem using cruise control in vehicles

While on foot I press "q" and my char runs by itself infinitely. When I get into a vehicle it screws up. It will drive for a short time, sometimes longer than others, then, it just, stops. It stops fast too, as if the breaks were slammed on. It has nothing to do with the 1-0 keys, I can change those and it has no effect. It will move at what ever speed I choose but then stop anyway. Does anyone have any idea what is wrong? I hate holding down "w" on long drives.
Thanks

could a key be jammed like the space bar for brakes? or some other key

This happens to me all the time... Try "double tapping" the Q button while in a vehicle... That is what seems to work best for me. But that is still unreliable so I just hit the 0 key to go full speed.

Do you have a joystick with a throttle control on it attached to your computer? That was my problem, I just ended up unplugging the joystick.

Aye either that or one of those nostromo thingies with the throttle controls screwed me up for weeks till I figured what was causing the problem.

Yes, this was the problem. When I read the post about a key possibly sticking I instantly thought that while no keys were sticking maybe a controller was interfering. Lo and behold, I unplugged the joystick and it works again :)

you guys obviously aren't the best drivers around cruise control has differents speeds press 1 to go at 10% 2 for 20% and so on 0 for 100%

ZERO
ZERO
ZERO
ZERO
HIT THE BLOODY ZERO KEY (0).
Q = Autorun
Q != Drive
0 = Full speed drive
0 != Run
Ok? Good.

Carp, ever tried hitting Q while in a vehicle? It's the same as hitting 0.

i read the whole thing but it didnt seem like you were giving him the info he needs usually when on cruise control you want to go full speed but when u are going afk and leaving it on cruise control u will want to put it on a lower setting
I had that issue as well with my joystick. I also unplugged it. Sad that you're forced to have vehicle throttle bound to the joystick regardless. I would have perferred to just unbind it, but not possible. Not much tweaking you can do to prevent it from ever happening (outside of totally decalibrating the joystick). Such is life.

check and make sure you don't have multiple keys bound to the same function, e.g. 'stop', or the same key bound to two different things.
I had a problem where every time I turned left, it'd switch ammo types on me. Turns out I had the same key bound to two different functions, which happened automatically after once of the patches.
