Im curious on how many people have tried the rocket rifle and how many are still using it?? I seem to be the only person on NC emerald who uses it religiously. I mean come one, it packs a good whallop, although it used to get me alot of grief!

As far as Special Assault goes, it all depends on the situation. I use the Rocklet primarily against MAXs, Turrets (base and spitefire) and vehicles. Against Infantry I'd much rather use the Thumper with plasma and don't forget a case of jammer grenades for those pesky minefields (also good for disabeling both kinds of turrets) and of course the Decimator is my MAX killer of choice.

I use it when I'm driving an AMS without an escort. Some arrogant Reaver or Basilisk starts plinking me with bullets. I hope out and fire off a secondary fire at them. This usually either destroys, or scares off the enemy.
The Rocklet has become my "Bandit" weapon. ie, do as much damage as possible before I get wasted. I'll fill the air with rockets and try to take as many people with me as I can.
However, I've decided the best tip when using the Rocklet is to aim low on troops. Shooting someone in the foot does almost the same amount of damage as a direct hit. This makes it much more effective when fighting infantry.
Against vehicles... just shoot a ton of rockets and hope you get them before they get you.

Yeh ive learned shhoting to hit below them is the best answer.

i use it...awsome wep
try to get high up. If your shooting down on people the almost direct shots can kill them just as fast as direct.
They are great for CC clearning (secondary), and u can make people take cover easy (no one follows u down a hallway...dunno why but i have plenty enough time to reload and pop back out with another 6 shots)

I have been using it as my main weapon for maybe a week now In fact, today I unlearned Heavy Assault as the Jackhammer seems like a BB gun in comparison to the tremendous damge the Rocklet Rifle can inflict. It is also suprisingly accurate, even at a somewhat long range. The secondary fire also proves to be exceedingly malicious, and can wreak havoc to even the most entrenched defenders (even those damn Pounders anchored in the CC, or worse, 4 of them lined up in a tower). Also, in secondary fire, the Rocklets keep firing even after your demise, so surging like an idiot, guns blazing into certain death, proves just as fatal to the enemy as it does to you.

Ok, well its good to hear that other people have been using it. Now if i only could find a way to take a terran Minichaingun in a 1V1.

Eh. That shouldn't be hard. He's either moving and doing little damage to you, in which case you should slam rockets at his feet - or he is crouching and doing some damage to you, in which case you should fire straight at him. That's about it.

I us the rocklet primarily outside, or for clearing a hallway, but mostly I stick with the thumper and decimator. The rocklet is great for medium range attack, and like was already said, always aim for the ground below target. Its also important to lead your target signiificantly if they're moving.
Yesterday, I came up agaisnt a large group of vanu who were camping the backdoor hallway ( at least 20 of them). I just opened the door, emptied a clip of plasma nades with my thumper, while strafing. Then I swithced to my rocklet rifle, put in secondary and finished everyone off before they had a chance to run out and get me. That was nice.
I wouldn't drop HA, if you have both. The one problem with special assault is the splash damage. Hitting anyone at close range (esp indoors) does a lot of damage to yourself. So if you have both HA and SA, keep them both.
Yeah the rocklet rifle is my favourite gun right now. Short to medium range is where it's most useful, cause even though it's accurate to long rage, the rockets seem to lose a ton of damage as they get further out. You should definitely keep your heavy assault though, the best way to use it is to fire a salvo into the ground near a bunch of troops, then drop to a knee as you whip out the minichaingun and finish tearing through whatever's left of their armor.
I do have some probs with friendly fire though, but nowhere near as bad as that damn thumper-- I think they should change the name from Special Assault to Grief Assault.

 nice one
I use it for AV, anti-MAX, and for clearing out defenders. I carry my gauss for a backup.

What's with the canned sig, sugar? Different is a good thing where I come from.

Rockletrifle is nearly identical to a Thumper loaded with frag nades, save that fact that it's direct fire.
Personally, I prefer the Thumper, but I guess the Rockletrifle is pretty decent. I prefer being able to kill 5 people 'round the corner :-p

I use it as often as I can. The secondary function is really helpful in tower assaults. I play a lot of Unreal Tournament/2003 so I automagically gravitated to it.

Rocklets pack nasty AP damage, 3-4 splashes pretty much drain an infantry. If you have cover available, spam off 4-5 shots then switch to a MA weapon for a quick kill. The rocklet's main selling point IMO is versatility- it kills cloakers, infantry, max suits, and vechs with pretty good efficiency.

I think what he meant was 'what's with the hideously ugly sig?'
No, he though Jagd was Jaged.

Its my main weapon too, good in almost any situation except long range where its easy to dodge the rockets. Buggies and lightenings fear it, it can take them out pretty easy, and pretty good Vs Reavers too. A Mossy takes 5 shots to lose control. PErsonally against MAXs i prefer a decimator so i carry both. A good tactic i found last night was to hit a nearly full health fully loaded Sunderer with all three decimator rockets then all six rocklet rounds, driver jump out to fix it, gunners are no targettig me so i jump behind a rock, equip my second decimator, jump out one shot and eight kills, including the driver/engineer outside it trying to fix it. It did damage me badly though.

The thumper is key in tower assults.

Well I guess the Rocklet is good for making me laugh. Nothing like someone with a Rocklet standing out in the open shooting at a tank. If my gunner doesn't put a 150mm tank shell in your face before my bumper hits you, you're roadkill :p They can be a cause for concern in my Lightning but most of the people I see aren't very good at hitting a moving target it seems.
Oh and for the love of god stop shooting decimators at tanks when they can see you and you have nothing nearby to hide behind. I appauld your use of weaponry but I almost want to stop, get out my tank and bitch slap you for shooting at a heavily armored relatively fast moving target from the middle of a road :p
Note: None of the above applies to the special assault users who have a brain in their head, just the ones that apparently don't ;)

But shooting my decimator at Mosquitos at operational ceiling while afterburning in the opposite direction is so much fun... :(

I used to use the rocklet to take on jackhammers, if you spam the ground, as everyone was saying you'll always get the kill the jack in a duel...unless you suck. Also very good on maxes, and is the most versatile Spec Assault weapon, as the thumper sucks on vehicles.
