View Full Version : Vanu MAX jumpjets and the water

I just discovered this interesting bug with the Vanu MAXs the other day. If you run towards water and leap out as far as you can go, when you land in the water you will continue running with no slow down what so ever. Makes crossing rivers and lakes a breeze. I was able to pass other MAX units who just ran into the water very quickly and left them to flounder across like normal. Don't know if this will work for everyone, but it does for me.
Oh and if you find yourself in the water with the enemy, use your jump jets to fly out of the water and above them. You can then use your weapons on them for a few seconds while you're in the air and they can't do anything about it.
This is also useful for getting air when crossing slowly and it looks as if you're not going to make it.

The only problem is when you land back in the water, you take like 20 damage.

And also I found out (I might be wrong) but from my experience plasma weapons, likethe gun on the vs maxs and explosive weapons like rockets from a reaver, won't go through the water and it stops on the surface. It's always annoying when in my reaver or magrider I'm chasing an enemy ams or other vechicle and they go into the water. Then I can't hit them with any thing except my reaver machine gun bullets, and those have no chance of killing an ams with near full health. But what always makes me feel better is the enemy always has to come out for air, and when he does I get him. But when I'm my tr dual cycler max I have no problem with hitting targets under water. But oh well, this doesn't happen often so I can't complain.

 I love Vanu MAXs now. Ever since I got my burster. I'll see one on the ground and start firing at him, then he'll jump in the air (stupid idea against a AA MAX) he won't even get to his maximun hight before I kill him.

lol this doens't matter. Your armor is what keeps you alive, your health means nothing. And every max should carry 8 medkits, it's foolish not to considering the large inventory and how perfectly they fit under two rows of ammunition.

When I used to be a max, I'm not now because my accuracy used to be horrible but now it's better, my loadout I had 4 medkits and the rest ammo. The medkits are extremly useful especially to VS maxs so they don't kill themselves when jumping. But the only bad thing about carrying alot of medkits is that you'll probably won't get to use all of them unless you do alot of jumping. Because once you have to resort to useing medkits because you have no armor, then your pretty much dead. You'd be like an infiltrator that couldn't cloak and had a big gun, and missles can lock onto you... But I agree, if your a max get some medkits

8?!?
Jesus, you don't need that many. I use an Quasar MAX, started with 6 medkits, kept running out of ammo, switched to 4, still ran out of ammo. I now use 2 medkits and the rest ammo (since two kits = 1 box of ammo) and I die about as much as I did with 6. It's very rare that the extra medkits will save you.

its just weird how ours is the only special ability that hurts us directly.

I never run out of meds or ammo, well, on rare occassions I run out of one or the other, but I can usually drop the spawn tubes or whatever else needs to be raped and still have enough ammo to hold me over until I find another equip term.

all you have to do is use nearly all of it [or go high enough that you get a bit back before hitting the ground] and then jumpjet as you hit the ground. it will dampen your fall dramatically and you will barely take any health damage.
