Am I the only person who thinks it is stupid that the #1 use of most vehicles is to run people over? The other day on Markov a swarm of 4 enemy AMSs just went driving through our ranks, instead of attempting to actually spawn a single soldier.
With the client-side hit detection, it is even worse, as I can be behind a tree and the guy can still hit me if his internet connection sucks enough.
It'd be nice if enemy vehicles had some sort of penalty if they weren't used "as intended", or maybe make it so vehicles can't run people over.
That, and avoiding the lattice by shooting matrix panels is equally dumb. Both of these are really taking away from the "fun" of a well-organized assault or defense.

Well I think it's realistic to run people over and kill them. I mean, you get run over by a 50 ton vechicle going 60 kph and why wouldn't you die? There is a small penalty however, the vechcile also gets hurt from running people over. So I say you should try taking cover more often. Every side has it's points, the vechicle side of this is saying how annoying AV weapons can be and that they should be toned down, I've read that forum before. And it would be to hard to hit people with something like a enforcer rocket, so they would have to resort to the bumper. When I see a vechicle I tend to stay back and I don't get run over, because since I take cover early enough the vechcile even if the person is laggin horribly won't get to me in time to hit me. I know that people who shoot at me and run at me when I'm in my magrider are just asking to get run over. Also vechicles can't aim down so sometimes there's a spot that the vechicle can't hit with their guns.
But I agree with you that shooting matrix panels is really cheap, it's just not right to have an entire base lose power from about 2-3 little panels which seem to only run off of as much power as a blender. But with this exploit it's almost like these small panels are the main part of the base.

Maybe I am just a cynical freak, but it's fun to run people over. :p It's not about lack of skill its about a moment of opportunity. I find it hard to believe that you would get out of your vehicle if someone (enemy) was near just so you can have a gun/weapon fight instead of running them over.....Be honest with yourself. I can see it now. You get out of a vehicle so you can get in a gun fight with another just to be ran over my an enemy vehicle ...LOL:D
Another thing that I love is when I do run someone over, sometimes I get a nasty "tell". I find it funny that they get so pissed off that they take time just to give me a "tell" just to insult me.:p That makes it that much more rewarding. ;)

Garth: Aww dang Cletus we got a corpse stuck in the treads
Cletus: Get the prying pole and pop him out
Garth: Double dang...
As long as I am on the topic of hillbilly soldiers, where can I download the AGN commercial for the Terran Republic?

The AMSes are the only problem imho, they are fairly fast, can turn fairly well, take little or no damage from hitting even maxes, and have enough armor to take quite a beating. I propose that AMSes are much weaker while driving, and once deployed, they have a shield that gives it the armor it currently has at all times. I don't think people should be run over, but when people buy AMSes solely for the purpose of running people over (it's damn quick kill exp, I'd be lieing if I said I have not done it), something is wrong.

What type of AMS are you driving that you think it has great turning? The AMS easily has the worst acceleration and turning of any vehicle, even the sunder is more manuverable then that beast...

Roll with it. Mines are your friends. That Vanguard will think twice about charging you when you put 10 mines between you and him.

look people, instead of comign here and bitc....whining about your problems, have some tact and THINK about your problem. find disadvantages to running people over and EXPLOIT them

I have to admit, my one true love is to run people over with my Skeeter! Sure after ever kill I have to after-burn out just to repair, but it's such a thrill thinking about flying up on an unsuspecting enemy and just SMASHING them onto your windsheild! God what a rush! Only problem is MAXes tend to kill a skeeter when they touch each other  Ohh well, good driving!

yeah I dislike the bad connection thing, if I get ran over because Im in the open thats my own fault but it sucks when I am not, and once I set a boomer, and it didnt stop so I said screw it ran to the tower got my max, then while in the tower I was ran over . . sheesh

The Deliverer is by far the funnest vehicle to make road pizza with...the air time can't be beat.

The AMS doesn't have great turning, but relative to the purpose in question (having a turning radius enough to hit someone) it's radius is exceptional.

Yes, I should have been more specific perhaps.
I have no problem getting run over, *if* the person can hit me. However, the current engine's system for determining a hit is flawed. I have a fast computer, on a fast link (50-60ms pings to Markov), and I can be on the other side of a tree from the damn AMS and still get run over by it.
This makes me think that there are exploits waiting to happen regarding hit detection. (e.g. the sniper who can shoot people inside towers or bases, etc)
If the hit detection can't be fixed, then I'd like to see AMS's have more difficulty running people over. Vanguards and Magmowers I have no problem with.

I have thought about my problem.
A modem user running me over 10 seconds after I've taken cover is a problem.
There is no disadvantage to running someone over, since the AMS has more armor than any other vehicle in the game.

Not sure how they will resolve the hit box issue. It is aggravating to be hit while taking cover behind a tree.
I have no problem with vehicles being used as battering rams, however. In real life I'd do the same if I had the opportunity.;)
If more people would squad up and make use of the transport vehicles before heading off to the next objective then they might live longer than when they try going it alone and get caught out in the open with their pants down. A full squad with two Deliverer drivers or a single Galaxy pilot or Sunderer driver is much more effective than one without. Heck put everyone on bikes and run around like a mob of Hells Angels. Now that would be something to see.
