View Full Version : Is the new patch to blame for the huge power outage?

This is perhaps the worst patch ever. Combining Basilisk and wraith and charging you 3 cert points?? And there's NO way LLU is ready to go live. I guess they just had to make their monthly quota of "new content."

It was God's way of bitch-slapping the Devs. I know at least one of em lives/works in NY.

I can imagine Heaven:

Jesus: Hey, Dad, have you seen the latest patch?
GOD: *looks at it* OMGWTFNUBS!!!

omg I played it on test before it went live and its like early beta all over again. I kinda like the LLU though, spices up the gameplay. so what if its not like a real war? so what if its CTF? SO WHAT if its tribes 2 with beefy weapons!!! ITS A GAME!!!

I was part of this Power Outage, I just got my power 2-3 hours ago, sadly.. its only in my 5-10 block vacinity of power. Those power souls. The patch had nothing to do with it. =P

I have to say I like it. Its not horrible, certianly brings a little sparkle of interest into the whole sit and wait thing. As long as its only 3 or so bases a continent I am happy. However
...
(by the way, I sear that on my in-game map there is a link between aja and chuku on cyssor, however whn I just went to jeck the names on their main page, there was no link... maybe I am insane... )
...
That link between Aja and Chuku is a killer, trying to take the LLu between those is quite a jog! Vanu must love this new patch as they have by far the better vechicles for it. (Can you say a mass usage of threshers for LLU transport?)

I am conserned by some of the bugs that still seem to be in it. I got 2 crashes to desktop in 4 hours and al thoughout I had some major packet loss issues (13-20% even at sanc with cable and a really powerful computer)

The one thing that really bugs me about the LLu is the massive yellow glowy thingy, it really looks out of place some times maybe if its going to be a major part they could find somethign a lil more appealing to the eye.

I guess at heart I really don't mind a lil CTF in a game, hell I loved Tribes and Tribes 2 and played them both for many years activly making mods and... wait... that must be why I don't mind LLU as much; I have acclimated to it beforehand. ;)

Still give it a chance, LLU seems to have been unfairly prejudiced by the online community and its really a new and interesting mechanic that will continue to change.

By the way, I HATE the new atv cert. Now why should we even get the blimmin things when for 3 certs we can get a skeeter or vanguard/mower/prowler for infiltrators at lower lvls I can see this hurt, as a 2-cert fast transport is a must and harrasser is more noticible, but now it seems to be the only replacement (apart from ams's ;) ).

Lashers did kinda need the nerf, though I have not noticed much change in their AI abilities, that is a good thing. They are supposed to be AI. When 3 peeps with lashers can take out my vanguard while my gunner helplessly tries to scare them away, something is wrong.

I had one guy almost take out my vanguard with a lasher, THAT'S JUST WRONG!! It had full health to. I didn't feel like getting a gunner so I drove up to a base that was VS, got out of the driving seat, and got into the gunner seat by the door to the tower. Then whenever a VS guy would come out I would blast him. But one guy got past me and went in my blind spot and started to pump my vanguard full of plasma. But luckly somebody else killed him and they repaired my poor vanguard.

lol, its pretty much suicide/retarded to drive around without a gunner :/.

also, the LLM isnt that bad, on the test server it was horrible, but on live it makes for quicker captures (sometimes) and more strategy involved.

I have to admit, this patch probably did more harm than good.

First off, the LLU sysyem, over all, I like it, it makes caps much faster if there is no opposition, and often times creates a sort of "parade" which can make for come truly massive battles between vehicles. I can imagine in the near future this capture system is really going to spice up the game. However, the LLU system really wasnt ready for release just yet. For the most part, because of flaky graphics. I dont know who the genius is who decided to call the LLU the "pokeball" but, this so called "pokeball" doesnt even show up on the map half the time, and when it does, often times it is in the middle of the ocean, or sitting static at the base while the LLU carrier is off running in circles.

Then there is the "new" ATV certification. I would have been all for consolidating the Basilisk and Wraith into one certification, if it only cost 2 points. If your an infiltrator, you really have no use for the Basilisk, and if you arent then what use do you have for the Wraith? So basically, you are getting one useful vehicle, and one useless vehicle for 3 certs. And considereing that you could get a far, far superior vehicle for 3 certification points. What a waste.

The Lasher "nerf," I geuss its good, wasnt what I expected though. I got hit by a few balls at what I thought was relatively close range, and I have to say, it was just sad, I took maybe 30 damage. By the time the player with the Lasher gets into lethal range, they are already widdled down like an old piece of beach wood. It still is quite a proficient little killing machine indoors, but its just pathetic anywhere else, inlike the other heavy weapons which still prove some use outdoors or in the court yard. And the main probelm, the fact that it does too much damage to armored targets, wasnt really remedied. It still does quite a bit of damage to armored targets, too much in my opinion. Which is a huge advantage over other heavy weapons which are forced to use armor piercing rounds which is feasible for the Jackhammer, although armor piercing still isnt as powerful as that of the Lasher, and due to ammunition constraints on the Chain Gun, its really not possible to bring any AP rounds.

And then there is the Starfire, the last thing that MAX needed was damage reduction, if anything its damage should have been increased. It just isnt good when compared ot either the NC Sparrow or TR Burster.

Not to mention the fact that major problems were ignored, lag issues, spotty AMS deployment, doors that wont open, terminals that wont work, receiving grief for being run over, and the beat goes on. There are also other additions which most players would rather have seen added than the LLU system, Platoons, blah blah blah.

Okay too much bitching , me brain hurt, me stop typing in thread... me hungry.

LLU rocks, ATV thing is stupid, lasher nerf and starfire boost are good.

Good patch, the ATV doesnt really hurt anything, but wtf?

The LLU didnt put on a good showing to me last night. I encountered a grand total of about 15 different enemies, and just waited at a base while some dude ran the LLU off for my awesome 89 XP! All in all, the Lasher nerf is the only thing I liked, maybe now it won't be a super-Jackhammer at close range and a super-Rocklet at long range.
