Hmm this is tough.

Halflife is definately up there, but so is Halo's Co-op, and Medal of Honor's single player gameplay. BF1942 is the best online game with vehicles, and SoF2 is the best foot only shooter online.

Red Faction 2 is pretty sweet, Half-Life was awsome, Opposing Force was my fav. Halo didn't really impress me, until I played Multiplayer, it's pretty good too.

IMO, Mohaa's single player was a huge lie. The game had been promised to deliver frontline WW2 action, but instead, you are almost always by yourself, sleuthing behind enemy lines, that is not what we want to see in a WW2 game. I think Call Of Duty should bring us what Mohaa didn't. But I think the best shooter would have to be Half Life, then RTCW.

Red Faction mp was a blast on the PS2, we would sit around on those 2 maps with the opposing forts and just try and bombard each each other and blast their fort away

yes, i do feel in a way that MOHAAs sp was a lie, at least in some maps, but you can't deny the awsomeness of Omaha Beach. i think Spearhead did something to rectify this with more frontline fighting with your buddies action

the best shooter to date is a difficult question, but I'm going to say Perfect Dark and Halo in a tie. I can't begin to count the countless hours me and my friend played both coop and mp for both games.

we got so good and coordinated at perfect dark that we were able to complete any mission in Perfect Agent mode, dropping enemies with single headshots before we knew they were there. And coop in Halo was great, we were actually coming up with real strategic diversion and flanking tactics, plus the story and production values were great.

yea, for people to say Halo was the first really great Coop game, or that the reason they loved halo so much is for the coop, well, they are 2 things, full of shit, and stupid. many games before Halo had coop, and did it just as well, i think as stated PErfect Dark, for the N64 was one of them, and infact, Perfect Dark was a goldeneye Ripoff, but it did it so much better than goldeneye, goldeneye blows.

and the best FPS of ALL time? Doom 2 baby! Coop, level 15, youll see what i mean, hoards of enemys left and right, and you gotta get through, not much funner than that.

but if you want to know my favoriet new FPS, that would have to be, Planetside, i dont care about all of these noobs and their balancing isues, or the occasional bug i run into, all i love is that massive fight, the same damned thing that brought me to want to play in the beta, and then buy.

i definatly think the best thing about Halo was the Coop, my friend and i would spend hours just playing that same level where you drop in on the beach, over and over trying to do it diffrent ways, i.e. alien wepons only. nothing beats gettin in the warthog with your best bud and kicking some alien ass. :love:

I agree, co-op wasn't the best thing about Halo...don't get me wrong, the co-op was hours upon hours of entertainment, but the best part about Halo was the multiplayer... easily the best console MP game ever created.. if you would like to debate this fact, find about 8-16 people, 4 copies of Halo/Xboxs/TVs and Hub, few ethernet cables, and a place to play.. you'll be hooked... and yes, the setup is easier than it sounds :D

The concept of a jet pack always appealed to me (I'm also the only one that can use Force Jump as a weapon in JK2 :D )

For me no game has given more hours for the dolars then Half Life... with all the mods... Damn, even pre-mods just the multi was a blast. But as tot he mods... only 4 really stand out

I agree Deus Ex was great, but I've been a long time fan of Unreal 1. Smooth graphics, lots of guns and baddies, and HUGE!!!! levels. The only thing it didn't have going with it was a good story which was pretty sparse.

Best Co-op-System Shock 2 because not only did it have a decent plot, it was a fun game to play. I'd vote for Halo but FPSs on consoles are an abomination and the fact that it's on X-Box just makes it worse. That's just me though, nothing against anyone who likes Halo.

Best Multiplayer-Not sure honestly. Duke Nukem 3D I loved and will always love, but that's probably because it was my first experience with it. I think it's kind of like the "your first true love" thing. That aside I'd say Tribes 1 for the mods and Tribes 2 for classic.

Half Life redifined most of FPSs in my opinion. Sure other FPSs had modability but all fell palee in comparison to the mods produced for HL. The engine was revolutionary for its time. Allowing us to push it far beyond what was expected. The storyline was amazing. Weapons realistic and fantasic ones. Enemys aliens AND humans!? AWSOME. CS really is not a good mod. I see constant cases of non leet people thinking they are leet because they an shoot you with an AW/M. Crys of camper noob and hax0r fill the web from that garbage. And then come the people who think that its realistic. Then came the glory that is DoD. They made an awsome game just like CS was before Sierra bought it and ruined it. Then Serria bought DoD, guess what? They made it the biggest noob friendly game ive ever played. The game went from fast paced to slow. For example you used to be able to squeeze off shots as u jumped into a bunker, perfectly possible, they took it out. Now theres a mini map that shows were nades are. I used to beable to shoot the nades in mid air. Now they have the foolish auto reload. Takes no skill to remember to jam another clip in the heat of battle. Walking while still scoped, sounds like CS to me. Bah im talkin to much.

I loved DoD, it is the game where I really learned how to FPS well, I remember killing 4 people in a single room with my MP40, or killing person after person with my K43 on Avalanche.

But they ruined it.

I never played halo. (I don't own an xbox.) And am not entirely sure what the coop game play was like, but I did play Rogue spear and I KNOW for a fact that it had a coop feature. And that was like 4 -5 yrs ago.

I am not gonna say what the best is because its subjective but I will say my favorites.

1. CS before hacks became rampant. Theres just something about a 2000 server list with one third of the pings under 100. I can still remember when i went from newb to best-worst-player to mediocer[sp?] to decent. Most time I ever logged at one time was like 18 hours over a week end. (never made it past this poor hand eye coordination. But hacks forced me away 6 months ago. I hated that AWP, never used it.

2. DOD see above only only with about 500 servers. But it wasnt the same.

4. TFC Used to play this over cs when all i had was a 28.8 modem. I was living in the sticks. Good well rounded game.

3. UT2 About the closest to "twitch" gaming i ever played. Sucked tho (hand i coordination) but it was fun.

After a week on the trial and then a purchase last week. I have now dedicated to mastering PS. I think it is an fine fps I just need to get better. Learn the weapon physics and such.
