Every now and then I'll glance at the kill window and see a player with a white name kill a player with a red, purple or blue name. Also, some times I'll see in white, "High Explosive Mine", then a picture of a white mine, and a player. I've seen this with spitfire turrets, skeeters, a lot of different weapons. Are these secret neutral Devs or what? Please explain.

I think the mines are from people who've logged out after placing them. I was fighting in my Reaver once when the other player decided he want to be cheap and spin in circles while shooting me. I got as close as possible to him and began firing rockets ontop of his fighter. I guess he killed me first, but my explosion took him down as well. My name was displayed in white with a Reaver symbol and then his name, but I didn't get any experience from it. Probably just some random error.

No, I kill myself all the time when I need to respawn somewhere else. If I use a rocklet gun, it'll just show the rocklet gun then my name.

It happens when you get killed by an item that no longer has an owner and the kill doesnt derive from one of your own weapons.

An example: Lets say you jump out of a skeeter, you land and jump in a lightning, and the skeeter drops and blows you up (yes I know very virtualy impossible situation) Well this death would show up in white.

Now if you took the exact same situation but you hit the skeet once with a bullet from your gun/lightning, it would not be white.

If you landed and didnt get in another vehicle it would not be white.

White comes from a unowned equipment kill, when the game reports a kill it finds the owner of the kill, if it cant find anything you get a white kill.

no that would only happen if u died in the skeeter. they white names then hemine then name colored is of a person that just died. no name then he mine then name colured is of a person who logged off.

Yes me too. A couple times I've been killed by a Person with a white name using a weapon, I send them a /tell and get no response.

Lone that case your using as an example comes from a lagged bullet, that kills you after the person owning the weapon has looged off. hence when the server computes the kill it is unable to locate the owner anymore and as such white kill (also why you would be unable to /tell them )

Oh ok, that makes since. Except, if the person who shot that bullet is logged off, how come when I send them I /tell it doesn't say they are offline?
