1024*768 I get about the same tbh.

Big battles is basically 200ish people perhaps, vehicles lots of action going on.

I am also going to buy a new system to play Planetside, so i would like to know if i will be able to run it decently. (I mean like medium settings all the time) My settings will be:

AMD Athlon XP PR2000+ (1667/266Mhz)
512 MB Performance Memory PC2700 DDR333 RAM
Soltek Geforce-FX 5200 AGPx8, 128MB DDR,TV-Out, DVI

i owna computer buisness, and put together lots of gaming computers. Anyhting above the Athlon 2000xp, 512mb of ddr, and any gf4 128mb card or above will be fine. I would suggest getting a radeon card, and always get the pro, its much faster. But you should be fine. I run an athlon 2600xp, 1gb ddr 2700, and a radeon 9600 pro, and i get 30-40 fps in big battles.

i am now thinking of buying the geforce 5600 instead, as i have heard it almost compares to radeon 9500 PRO and it is cheaper where i live. would that be better?

NO! the 5600 is a horrible card. the 9500 pro is excellent. I would go with the 9500 pro 100%. The 5600 is a really bad card, the only reason it got high benchmarks is cause nvidia fuxored with the tests.

Ok then i too havent place planetside yet, im about to get broadband so and my pc is pretty shitty, i got 1.53ghz processor, only 256mb RAM, NVIDIA Geforce2 MX/MX 400 graphics card, i know this is a crappy system for such a graphical game, would i be able to run planetside on minimum spec ok or should i just give up :(

upgrade the ram. if you get like 768 or more in there and run at low resolution you should be able to run it.
