XP or 98. XP is great at conserving resources, but 98 has the least amount of errors. So it's a tossup between those. Personally, I prefer XP.

2000 is fine.

2000 will work fine. ME as well. But if you're trying to optimize your gaming, XP or 98 is the way to go. Also another interesting little tidbit... XP seems to conserve battery power on laptops. Buddy of mine tested this out. His laptop battery ran about three times longer on XP than it did on 98. Interesting, isn't it?

only problem is 98 cannot use more than 512 mb of ram. If you put too much ram in without telling 98 to use less, you will get tons of problems (this happened to me). So i would say xp, though i use 2000 and the game runs fine.

No but seriuosly i use XP.

On another nte, the reason that XP uses less battery time is probably because it slows down the CPU when its not needed. If nothing is running, it will degrade the cpu so it uses less power, hence conserving the battery. 98 however will just run till dead at full power, Kinda like the Titanic.

i have a dual boot winxp and redhat 9 linux machine. yet to find a sue for linux thought haha

Linux is teh sux for games. Badass server OS though. I put gui's on my lin-box, looks like windows :)
