Had a fun little battle on Amerish/Markov. I like a good war story and so I thaught I'd write this one and see if anyone had one they would like to relate.
A couple of NC came thru the Solsar Warpgate and took the gate tower and then the Southern Verica Amp Station tower. I was practically alone in my Lightning on the continent and decided to intercept these guys. I was north of the Solsar gate when they came thru in their Enforcer and as soon as they took the first tower I basically drove behind them and retook it after they drove off.
After retaking the gate tower I drove down to Verica and got there just as they took the southern Verica tower. I figured they would try to hack Verica next and so I got ready for them. There were still plenty of mines and spitefires laying around from a previous battle so I didn't have to spend any time setting up deployables.
I grabbed my Reinforced/Thumper/Decimator outfit and just as I came out of the building I heard the NE auto turret go off and so I figured they were going for the back door on the north side of the base.
I ran up on the North wall and noticed they had parked the Enforcer just over the hill. Mr. Sniper and Mr. Jackhammer (that's my names for them) don't notice me hiding behind the turret and they proceed to snipe the spitefires and throw jammer grenades at the mines.
Jumping down off the wall, neither one of them notices me until I start dropping plasma grenades on top of Mr. Jackhammer up on the hill. Both of them scream like little girls (at least that's how I remember it ;) ) and make a run for the Enforcer.
They come carging over the hill firing rockets just as I'm trying to flank them and I dive behind the biggest tree I can get to.
Some VS cloaker named Gost must have been away from his computer and he just happened to be standing next to the tree I took cover behind. One of the Enforcer rockets just happened to nail him and not me and he drops dead. The guys in the Enforcer must of thought they had got me, because they stopped right on top of the hill.
I whip out my Decimator and put a rocket into their side. They get scared and run off for a moment.
I take this opportunity to run down and replace some of the mines that were destroyed and go back to an equipment terminal to restock my ammunition.
I run back up to the north wall and low and behold Mr. Sniper and Mr. Jackhammer have parked on the hill again and are starting to work their way down to the back door. I have a nice clean view of the Enforcer and so I crouch on the wall and put 3 Decimator rounds directly into its side. Mr. Sniper and Mr. Jackhammer can't do anything but watch their precious Enforcer explode.
I figure both of them are pissed off at the moment and so I allow them to get to the rear door.
Now normally I wouldn't want to try and face off 1/1 against someone wielding a Jackhammer within the confines of a base, but Amp Stations are one of the easiest bases to defend if the enemy tries coming up through the back door. They have to work themselves up to the ground floor entrance before they can get to
the CC. This room has a balcony that wraps all the way around the walls and you can sit up there and blast anyone on the ground floor fairly easily as long as their isn't a full squad charging up the stairs after you.
There's only two doors leading into the ground floor and I had motion sensors set up that let me know which of the two they were going to use.
I just happened to be on the ground floor when the door on the east side opens and I see both of them grouped together in the door way. I let loose with two plasma grenades and they both dive back thru the door out of my sight.
I run up on the balcony, take a knee and set my Thumper to alt fire, so I can bounce the grenades across the room if I need to. Just as I aim in on the door it opens up and Mr. Jackhammer comes out shooting and spraying shot gun pellets all over the balcony. He dives behind one of the walls in front of an equipment terminal to take cover and I start bouncing grenades in after him. I put two grenades behind the wall on the left side and then drop a third off to the right side of the wall. The third one nails him and he goes down. Luckily a friendly hacker had just taken the South Tower and so he had nowhere to spawn but back home in the Sanc.
Mr. Sniper is still behind the door in the hallway and all by himself now. After a tense moment of silence I see the door open again and he leans out and puts a bolt right over my head. I bounce 3 grenades into the doorway before it closes and Mr. Sniper goes down extra crispy and joins his buddy back home.
I love little fights like this. They get so personal and exciting. Just goes to show you don't have to follow the zerg to have fun sometimes.
