View Full Version : Getting grief for being run over

Ok this is really bad on sony's side.....I had a 30 min weapon ban and with 30 seconds left a marauder ran me over and i got 7 mins more for the weapon ban so i cussed at the guy who did it and he got mad and ran me over 3 more times and i got 30 more mins for the weapon ban, they really need to fix that.

Yeah its been like that for awhile. Even if you just barely get hit sometimes you will get grief.

The reason this happens is when you're hit by a vehicle, not only does it hurt you (often fatally) but you do damage to IT as well, netting you grief points.

However, I have to say that if my grief was that high I'd just call it a night and let them decay for a while.

I think this is one of those things that looked good on paper, but royaly sucked as far as actual ingame effects go. Sometime during development someone must have said "hey, what about someone who jumps infront of other peoples vehicles to get them grief?" So they decided to put in grief for getting run over, to give everyone on the road an incentive to pay attention. But in reality it's just stupid, although if it's that big a problem, barring SA or pounder users, you probly need to rethink your tactics abit.

Edit: not directing that at you, but seriously, if you weapon lock yourself it's probably time to go to sleep.

Who jumps in front of a fast moving vehicle anyway?

Well, some of us would, if we were bored enough.

Meh I kill outfit mates all the time but ofcourse you don't get grief for that so its all good.

How'd you manage to get that much grief, anyway? My point level is pretty low usually, so I tend to find myself helping those people who get stuck in the ground by weird bugs and stuff.

I dont care about that grief. Its only like 10, maybe 20. I get plenty of greif when I blast assholes with my Scattercannon anyway.

I love bowling people over with my reever while waiting for a hack. I usually rack up about 100-150 grief each day I play.

So many stupid people. So few bullets.

Ok here's one for you, how many times have you been waiting for a hack and theres some asshat in the courtyard in a max just shooting off rounds sometimes hitting people due to his bad aim sometimes just making everyone run around looking to see if there's a cloaker. I love sitting in the air in my reever popping off quick shots with my 20mm all around him, maybe hitting him 10% of the time. Everytime he stops walking and looks around I stop firing (course I'm looking through zoomed in from up high).

Sigh I know I'm evil sometimes...

Course a lot better than unknownplayer or olddirtymexican or evilsquirrel. Those guys get their galaxy's loaded up, then fly over water and eject everyone. Bunch of dicks....

I just don't shoot anyone so my grief stays low, and when some idiot runs you over you only get like 5 grief so it doesn't matter. Plus low grief means you can shoot wildly in those tight cornered bases not fearing you will get grief points because it won't really affect you as much.

You think sniping racks up grief!? Try special assault!!! I think they should find a way to give grief to the moronic imbeciles who run in front of thumper and rocklet users as they try to clear out a hallway. I mean come on people-- it is pretty obvious when someone is lobbing plasma grenades down a hallway, why would you get in front of them!?

I wouldn't worry about Oldirty anymore Casper, we took care of him a while ago. ;)

As for the grief subject, the only time I rack up grief is when I encounter an almighty dickhead noob. You know, the people who TK for obvius stupud reasons. My friends and I make sure they never TK again. I'll name a few stupid reasons I've been TKed,

1. I mistakenly lowered somebody's armor 50%, so he killed me. I could've repaired him.
2. I was hacking a tower and a fellow TR kills me becouse he thought he would get xp fo the hack.
3. Some dumbasses from AOD killed me when I had the LLU.
4. Moving an AMS inside a base
5. Walking through an enemy spawn room, somebody shot me, got grief, said I was a grief magnet, and finished me off.
6. Firing a Skygaurd flak cannon for the first time, the driver got pissed and had his friends blow me up.
7. I had my harasser parked waiting for my partner, a TR wanted to get in but I locked it. He stood on the hood, my friend got in, I took off, injured him, he got his friends to kill me.
8. For being in the Emerald Alliance
9. Too long of a line at the vech term so some idiot threw frags to clear out about ten guys
10. Airpad room at Azeban, some guy said "Quite" over and over, so some guy kills me. He said I spammed "Quite" too much.
11. For running on a bridge, I was in a MAX running on the right side, I pressed T so I could see a vehicle come from behind me. This Marauder comes up behind me on the left side then swirves right to hit me, killing me
12. For bumping into a Reaver with my mosquito.
13. For destroying an enemy Gen. The guy said "We're just about to get the fucking hack you noob" 10 minutes left on hack, I would've came back down to repair it anyway
14. For parking my AMS too far away from battle
15. One time I dropped out of my skeeter to get on a tower, my skeeter hit a friendly prowler, when I hacked it, came out, he ran me over. Once again I could've repaired him too
16. In an enemy CC some guy's health was low, I said I'd give him some med packs, then I had to talk to my outfit for a while. He TKed me to get the med packs
17. For not repairing a MAX that was TKing
This list could go on forever. The only reason I remember them all is becouse TKing really pisses me off. I can only remember a couple names,

Fosters
HeavenzBliss
a couple guys with AODblahblahblah
xXSanchoXx (something like that)
ReddRicco
AirDog

Maybe it's just Emerald but I don't see much Tkers around here in Konried, I think i got killed once by a TK and he said it was an accident so it was cool anyway.

yeah playing TR emerald is like playing with a bunch of eight year olds with squirt guns and abandonment issues - sometimes you can barely get out of the sanc for some idiot driving a sund/ams around running everyone over... not to mention the people that park a vehicle beside EVER hart door so you can't get out (they should really fix that).

btw lonehunter, i'm in AOD and most of the people are very repsectful, i'm sure they're a few assholes but let the higher ranks sort that out. i've not played a night with AOD where someone has pulled something like that.

Same thing happened to me today. I picked up an LLU that somebody dropped and I'm 10 feet away from an enforcer. As I start walking towards it some guy TKs me on purpose. He then picks up the LLU and then my outfit tks him :p. Then I /tell the guy and he trys to play it off and says "THERE WAS AN ENEMY CLOAKER THERE NOOB, I WAS KILLING HIM!" I don't think so pal, we had 10 people surrounding me and the enemy must have been standing right behind me cuz he hit me with all 15 rounds from his amp. If anyone would like to know his name is F1yboy and he is in -Ios-.

No offense to you snoob but to me AOD does seem sort of noobish. I play NC on emerald so I'm not talking about the way they act but the way they actually play. I've run into more than a few of them.

I simpethize(sp) with all of you who've been griefed by others, and Tk'ed by others. I too use Spec assault, and many many times I've gotten 45 grief because someone ran into a tower I was nading with my HE nades. And I'm pretty sure you get grief amount in the amount of damage you do to someone, or something. I wracked up 469 grief this morning, thanks to my spec assault.

Also, I ran into a friendly tower, to switch weapons, and up the stairs comes a guy with his spray and pray out. He comes up to me, and shoots me, point blank in the face. I would have let it pass, but I /tell asking him what his problem is, is he color blind? He replies like a smart aleck, yup ;). So I got out my shotgun. I didn't kill him right off hand, as he was fighting enemy, and I feel that killing enemy is more important than my grief, But I threw frag grenades between the both of them, Killed the enemy. he was still alive, but hurt bad, so I finished him off with my shotgun. I /tell him that he deserved nothing less. that I only do 1 for 1. he said so does he. I said he started it. To make a long story longer, I had my team mate watch my back, but then the guy wanted in my squad, so I let him. Incidently, he was a new player who had played Everquest until then. I won't write his name down, simply because he was a new player/idiot.

I've seen AOD mow down an LLU carrier.

They need to triple or quadrouple the grief for killing an LLU carrier.

Lonehunter

Snoob let me explain the situation. We were on Ish, I just got the LLU and was heading to the vehicle pad to meet my friend with a Marauder. We were gonna see if I could get into the marauder then into a Gal. SOE says you can't ride in aircraft but I was going to be in a ground vehicle, and IT was in the Gal. However stupid it sounds I wanted to try it. There were no enemies around and the only enemy base left was hacked and on the other side of the continent. When I get close to the door I type what I'm doing into local chat, and tell everybody not to kill me. I get to the vehicle pad, standing still for about 5 seconds. Then I get knifed, "Surrender the LLU" AODShadowment says, as he knifes me again. Most of the time I let dumb shit go, but this was just unexceptable. A got my skeeter and killed him afterwords. Becouse of his actions, the hatred I have towards AOD is most likely greater then Satan's hatred for God, I mean that. I hope this isn't how all of AOD acts. If so, they should just swich empires, becouse most the people they kill are TR.

The guy you replied to probably already had 800 pts from careless grenade lobbing or something similar. A friend of mine (who REALLY WANTS his kills) mentioned the number of points you get for grief goes up dramatically, the closer you get to the maximum. He sometimes complains that some schmuck ran in front of his vehicle and gave him some phenominal number for a minor ding off the fender.

I wouldn't know personally, since I've taken the care to keep my grief below 200 pts, most days.
