I was thinking about this today. Maybe sony should think about adding an ant cert which lets the person take NTU from a base that already has it, instead of going all the way to the warp gate, this could save some time and be very usefull, what do you think.

it sounds like a good idea. but would you take it from friendly bases or steal it from NME bases?

Nah if they were gonna add a cert for ant they should make the ant more...robust. Either increase armor and speed or add a passenger seat that can control a gun on it.

One thing I love doing is when I see a base getting taken over by enemies and the power level is low, I look for the nearest warp gate and start patrolling around it in my reaver. I call it "shooting ants in a barrel" On thursday I got 4 in a row within 25 seconds of each other only using my 20mm's for two of them. The funny thing was the last guy had a reaver flying escort for him but the pilot was in front of the ant, and low, I just came up behind them and fired a salvo of rockets blowing up the ant and afterburned away.

Now I love shooting those ants, easy points and it really hinders the enemy but in all fairness if you are going to make the ant cert required then they should make it so the ant isn't the agile armor of the vehicle world :)

here is what i think they should do. include the AMS ANT and the new wg vechical all in 2 1 cert that costs 3 or 4 certs.

I actually think thats an awsome idea. Taking NTUs from an already full base that may have a ANT enroute to resuplly it so you can hold a caped bbase would be awsome.

Do you know how exploitable this is? Plus, there are so many annoying fools that will drain the base completely, the same people who park vehicles in front of the HART doorways. Maybe if you could drain the silo but not below 50% power, then it might be ok. But this just shows how lazy everybody is. This would not get rid of the ANT run, it would make it worse. Sure bases will be get power quicker, but overall, all the bases will lose power sooner, which means MORE ANT runs.

lonehunter is right. that would just mean that everybase would go neutarl qucker and then u would have enemys hacking a base right in the middle of the cont. i think they should do my idea that way the people who will use the ant u know they will use it right.

Now this is a great simple, little improvement that would benefit the game greatly.

What drugs is this guy on? :confused: Comming from someone who ran their own outfit.... an ANT outfit, yes an outfit devoted to the art of Anting...

All I can say is this guy never has trully experienced the ant effect.

What is the ant effect?
Currently in the standard game when you die you respawn... no biggie, just go out there kill and die again... repeat.

BUT when your driving an ant and you die, you lose more than just 30secs respawning.. you lose an entire load of NTU's that are needed...

SO??

When you have nothing to lose, death is a minor inconvinience, when you have something to lose, death becomes alot more important, this directly effects your game enjoyment. How? Your adrenalin starts pumping, your more alert, you try "risky" things, also when your sucessfull, you will generaly get more praise since the task at hand was harder.

Anyhow thats my 2c.

Intresting idea, might work.. but.. whats to stop someone draining a base to 10% then using the NTU's they just took form that base to refill it? Talk about getting exp without any challenge, just go to a base on your cont lock, drain and fill to hearts content... easy exp.

One you solve that problem I will agree its a good idea.. till then.. too exploitable.

You only get xp if you take the NTU from the WG, there will still be regular ant runs because eventually all NTU will go down.

i agree that something needs to be done about ants. It sure would be cool if ants went through water :D i think the speed and reinforced is a great idea. Taking NTU's from other bases? - even though i love Exit (whos helped out on command chat a number of times) - isn't.

I think it would be cool if you could steal NTUs from an enemy base. taht should bring in some cool new tactics. also, they shouldnt make an ANT cert, its so boring and unenjoyable that this probably the best idea to package it with vehicles. 45 MPH and no armor isnt worth my hard earned cert points.

i dunno about a separate cert for it, maybe something just to add to the engineer cert. or maybe a cert you can get after you get your first vehicle and the add on cert to the ant would be like a trailer.

I don't think it's a good idea.
The ANT, as far as I know, was meant to be used by anyone with a vehicle, for the gathering of NTU's. ANyone willing to give up driving their normal vehicle, for a crappy 1965 Dodge Dart, deserves all the experiance they can get from an ANT run. If they survive, which is usually, they do.

I, however, like the idea of upping the speed and allowing Reinforced to drive. On the other hand, I've been doing the top speed, driving over hills, and suddenly I'm airbound, drop 5 feet, and BOOOOOOOM. *fek*

Besides, who would give up a Magmower for an ANTmower?

i think the idea is alright.

but it would be better if they created an ANT cert, increased the xp you got for replenishing NTU silos for bases linked to hostile bases, and made the ANT show up on the enemy map when it contains NTUs. they could use the argument of the NTUs showing up on radar or some such. this could turn ANT runs into sort of like an LLU scenario, and would make them heaps of fun. boost up the ANT, make it faster, give it some weaponary, a gunner. otherwise an ANT cert is just a lame cert with little gain.

I think a simple upgrade to the ANT's speed and a little bit of amor with the ability to drive it with the exosuite would be perfect.

I don't think having a gunner would be a good thing because then it would take a different role (more like a harasser or something).

If they made it go around 70ish it'd probably be a reasonable balance.

Taking NTUs from another base doesn't seem like a good idea. Better to stick with the story line and go to the ancient warp gates and collect the NTUs.

Anything, and I do mean anything, that improves the process of fueling bases sounds good to me. Siphoning fuel from unguarded enemy bases? Sneaky, therefore fun. Siphoning it from friendly silos behind the lines? A nice option for command.

All in all, not a horrible idea.

To be honest, i think they should abolish the whole "power" system and ANT's, so that bases never run out of power, although they should keep the genorators, so they can still be attacked to power down the facility.

reinforced should drive it. if u ever drove a ant through shallow water u will see that the water get in the cockpit area.
