is it just me or is TR the only ones that use it??
(and i mean use it.. they over do it with that thing)

i know that only cr5 can use this..
why isnt NC cr5 using this function..

i was in emerald last night.. in solsar..
and FUCK!! 3 fucking times.. within a 1/2 hour that shit was deployed..

im not hatin.. but NC commanders should be using it as well...
it really does the job..
or is it because they dont want to loose outfit points.

Holla on this..

In my personal experience it just depends on a couple things.

Number of CR5's present.

Targets of oportunity. Jam packed AMS and vehicle terms are the favorites.

Another thing you have to take into consideration is the reload time on OS wich if memory serves is at least an hour (my mind wants to say 3)

And yes CR4's get an OB but compared to the main one it seems kinda joke.

Edit:I really need to proofread.

mofos where fucking shit up..

AMS seems to be there fav target..

thanks for the info

CR4 gets to use a mini-orbital strike. This is just like the CR5 strike only with a much, much smaller diameter.

Sony never implemented the expenditure of outfit points for using an orbital strike.

OS has a 3-hour reset between uses.

To target the OS, you use the CUD to pull up a continent map. The only thing that shows up on this map is waypoints, and you are unable to zoom in or out. The designated target must be within a distance of half an SOI diameter to the Commander to target it.

I hope it is not a one hour deal, or you would see them all the time . .
yeah I too noticed that the NC seem to never use them. but then again no one is on when I am to use them on

We have a lot of CR 4s and 5s. I can say that all of them are fairly talented at directing the flow of combat. Do the NC have really good leaders?

I have 2 CR5's in my outfit. I dont think I've ever seen either one use an OS. Whenever theres an OS, I'm usually running away.

the CR4's/5's NC/emerald use orbital strikes quite a bit. when we're attacking the base, someone will announce an ams position, it will usually get os'd.

according to thottbot http://www.thottbot.com/planetside/2003-08-24/CR/Emerald/

theres 87 nc cr4's on emerald :)

NC uses orbital strikes quite often. It all depends on what targets are available though. I've seen 5 TR AMSs get OS'd in under 15 minutes and I've played 8 hours without seeing a single OS.

Im cr4, and every time I see somthing to os I os it. I know that a couple members in my outfit also use their os anytime they get a chance to(only cuz its fun and makes me look like this: :drools: ) Maybe your right about this. I dont pay to much attension to the enemy os's...but I must say that I do rarely see them or get killed by one. But as the others said they do use them often. Who knows...

I see a fair few of em on Markov, mostly Vanu and TR launching them mind you. At least a couple times a session we'll be patrolling the courtyard and hear that creepy sucking sound, then I jam the gas down and pray that my Marauder can get the hell out of there. The best was one time I crashed into a basilisk trying to make a hasty exit too, and cause we both stopped dead we both got nuked. Always user your signal lights, even when you're in a hurry.

...and if you're not in a vehicle, run inside.

Yeah I see you jabbering on command chat all the time!!!! :P Just messing. Anyways its kinda hard to find a nice target. Once in a while I'll just say fuck it and OS an ams that has like 3 people in it and then one hour later there is a big juicy one. I've had cr4 for about a week now and my best os so far was 16 kills. So all I gotta say is just try it out and you'll see what I mean OPer.

I've only really had two juicy AMS kills that I can recall. Usually I use my OS where it would help the most in the smaller battles for control of the rear facilities, not in the heat of the action where they probably have two or three more anyway. But anywho, the first killed about 18 people that were spawning at an AMS out in the middle of the forest. The other, heh heh, killed a few Vanguards, a Sunderer, the AMS, and a total of about 23 people that were in the targeted portion of the courtyard of a base. Good times.

I read this yesterday and thought "hmm... ive not noticed that", but was playing last night and oh my god!, hes right. Was defending a base against hevey TR attack, and i say 3 orbital strikes in about 5 minutes!!!!. They may have been more that i did not see.
They must have a good few CR4/5 's!!!!

The CR4 OS is tiny compared to the CR5, as long as you get in the general vicinity of the target, it will obliterate it. Like last night on Forseral, we were at Anu (southern tech plant), and the NC AMS was up in the hills.

So my squadmember went on a kamikaze mission and died right at the location, I targeted it, and confirmed it with him (he didn't release, so he could direct the beam), then I struck it.

The OS didn't kill as many as the AMS explosion, that thing is lethal, kills everything under the cloaking bubble. Then another CR5 (Ash), struck it right after me, cleaning up the survivors.

They all perished in the blast.

I use mine Quite frequently! I don't spare it on Ams's with 2 enemie's runn'n around i just jack it. But if i happen to run into a Zerg The Os's Start fly'n! It's alla bout where u place it! I've seen toooooo many Tr Os's do nothign to the Target AMS cuz of Tree's! If ya see an OS'able target! Plot it out and see the tree situation! ppl are gett'n smarter and putt'n them under bridge's but if u can get it close enought the blast radius would take care of everything!

hehe, i was there.
was quite funny to see one os get 10+ kills (yours) then see the other one hit killing only 2 ppl :p

the major problem with orbital strikes : while i'm scrolling back thru the deaths list, to see how many people I totalled with my tasty pillar'o'doom, I quite often get killed while I'm counting them up ;)

the OS is the best weapon in the game, and also possibly the hardest to use right.
