After the beta I decided I would not be subscribing to PS until they addressed some of the glaring gameplay flaws. Having just recently checked the official site I have seen that the Core Combat expansion and the recent patch (27/8/03) are instituting some changes I wanted to see.
I wanted to ask the active players if the game has changed much from beta, and if you think the proposed changes may still revive the game.

Well there's still ONE major problem that needs patching.

HINT: Starts with an I, ends with a DIOTS.

the game has changed for the worse since beta. for god only knows what reasons, the devs ignore the constructive ideas that the entire PS community agree's with, and do stupid crap like making some bases CTF style. they ignore the small issues that could easily be tracked down if they just DID it, and they go revamp the entire game basis, when noone is complaining about it. even better, they wont release features the promised and already coded (*cough* platoons *cough*) but they will start some stupid crap like in base vehicle repair silo's.

The game has had what i will call problem improvements. They arnt gone. just improved. the above posts are correct. The devs dont like to listen to the public.

I for one like many of the changes that have been made.

1) Finally fixed the imbalance of the Jackhammer (took about 3 patches to get it right mostly because of the Lasher

2) Finally fixed the Starfire MAX

3) Fixed some massive exploits such as matrix panel draining and cont lock bypass

4) Fixed the Quasar MAX and the Pulsar rifle

5) Fixed the Thresher (still needs a decent weapon on par with the other heavy buggies)

All in all the game is pretty well ballanced now. Sure there are some tweaks that could go in but nothing ridiculous like the Starfire or Jackhammer problems although the Striker is kinda ridiculous. Vehicles are all pretty well balanced and the populations have evened out mostly with a slightly lower Vanu population. Mostly due to the recent Lasher nerf as all the NC who jumped ship for the temporarily overpowered lasher went back to NC

The game as the base concepts go can still get a little boring since its all still about base capping and defense is just not implemented. The LLU sucks but no suprise there. Nobody asked for it but it doesnt ruin the game IMO. Most of the good community suggestions are going into the expansion pack - Core Combat) and it looks like it will inject a buch of life into the game.

I personally cant wait for it.

Don't listen to Diluted. We're still trying to figure out why he hasn't scurried off yet.

The game is different from Beta in a number of ways. Lightnings are worth a damn, Liberators make great targets for air units and scare the crap out of ground ones. Desite what many had said the LLU is just another way that you have to cap certain bases. Not really better or worse than capping the old way. Vehicles physics overall are much better. The HA weapons are much more balanced at this point as well. Overall I'd say the game has improved quite a bit and Core Combat will simply make it better once people get used to the new environments wepaons and vehicles.

Yes I noticed that Core Combat has a lot of the suggestions from the end of beta - underground bases, variances in the current bases and the ability for outfits to own one.
I think I will give it a try when Core Combat comes out, I am just still mentally scarred from what they did to the experience system just before beta. That signified to me that they had given up hope of content and a win condition and instead wanted people to struggle to BR20/CR5.
I was curious because I had noted a lot of hints at a rapidly falling population, and I wondered if the game would survive to be frank. Maybe the expansion can drag some of those beta players back.

Population seems fine to me but then I play on Emerald and I play during prime time. On the exp thing. Your fears, and I'm guessing the fears of many others, were totally misplaced. The exp in Beta was artificially high, reason being they need people to have a lot of certs to be able to play around with things. This is a very logical thing for them to do. Their mistake, I think, was in not making it absolutely clear to us testers at the time. Getting to BR20/CR5 isn't really even all that tough. If you're in a group of skilled people it's just a matter of time and honestly by the time you hit even BR10 you can do quite a bit.

I was never on board with the beta. Been playing for about a month, and I like what I have been seeing, with the exception on repair silos. I'll play for a while longer. The ONLY thing I want, is to raise the BR cap from 20 to at least 25. 30 would be even sweeter. However that has it's flaws, so I'd settle for 25/24. That would at least allow players to get one more certification.

The game is fun. There have been many improvements.

Though not as fast as I would like.

Defence is slowly coming. Populations are dropping. Weapons are mostly balanced (with a AV/AA Nerf to come.)

They seem to be working faster with Dallas then Dave. Not sure why. Maybe they are getting the bugs under control.

The game rocks. I just wish there were more people on Konried. I tried playing Emerald last night, with a VS char. You have no idea how many times I looked for my CUD, Medic thingie, Engie, thingie, Ace, Tank, or Galaxy.

I would run up to hack things thinking I was an advanced hacker, for example.

I wasn't.

The game is fun. There aren't many bugs. The FPS is being improved regularly. And the LLU isn't too bad.

Spend 13 dollers and find out for yourself. It is only two good McDonalds meals for a month of playing.

hrm .. whats wrong with the LLU ? Im not saying it makes the game hell of a lot better but it does speed up caps and also its only on 3 bases per cont. Sure no one asked for it but you guys do know why they added it right ?? For core combat. and u guys say they dont listen to the community well it seems to me within the next month or 2 they are ganna patch/expack everything in that people wanted. Yes it took forever but u should of done what Shaolin did and not bought the game until now
