Spent 15 hours+ downloading and getting this friggin game to run just to be told that SOE have stopped all the keys. So how the bloody hell can i demo this game before i buy it?? Or am I expected to just shell out 30 and cross my fingers.
So far i can tell that the game currently has a speed hack that makes people run faster than vehicles, the tutorial will only work for the first mission, there are loads of bugs with the graphics settings and there arnt enough people on the servers. So i am a bit hesitant to buy it seeming as i wont be able to get my money back.
And no i dont know anybody with the game so i can get there trial key. Unless anyone reading this feels genourous. :D

Go buy it, then you get a month free.

Hamma, why shell out 30 for a supposedly "free" month trial, and take your chances? 30 for a month trial is a bit steep I think.

Because everyone else had to pay, so should you :p
You wont get any sympathy from those who shell out money to buy, and pay monthly for this game.

So they suspended the 7 day trials?
That's actually a good thing for a little bit till they get the stupid speed exploit nailed down. Hope they reopen them in a few days so we can get more folks in!

Dont think i asked for sympathy hamma, i was trying to see if anyone was aware of any other ways to trial this game before you have to buy it.
I dont give a monkeys if everyone else decided to take a leap of faith and fork out 30 sods not knowing whether it was any good. I just find it very strange that SOE expect you to do so.
Its just with the amount of problems that seem to be going on with planetside at the moment i am a bit hesitant to buy it without any way of testing it. All ive seen so far is nice graphics and a tutorial where only one mission works!! I mean you wouldnt buy an music album without even having heard one of the tracks, would u??
Having said all that i think the idea behind the game with the amalgamation of mass player FPS with RPG is a first class idea!! :D
PS Trial isnt suspended, its closed, finished, game over man!!

Blame the cheaters, I'm sure when they/if they fix these exploits trial will return.
You might be able to buy the game and return it if you don't like it. There is going to be no other way to try the game unless you get a buddy-key from someone who bought the game or find a friend who will let you try it.

You can have my trial. That's assuming I didn't give it away already (I'm almost positive I haven't) and that by the time I get home I'll remember posting this.
On a side note, a friend convinced me to go lifting with him yesterday. I think I now know how people who were put on the rack felt  Now, to plot my revenge...

I presume by cheaters u mean those who are using this speedhack, actually i blame the abusers of this free trial system cos apparantly they just kept getting more keys when there trial finished.
Something which SOE could have avoided so easily if they thought about it
PS.. U cant return the game, all stores have a no returns policy on MMO's

Cheaters are both the people using the hack and those cheating the trial. Many of the SpeekHack accounts are on Trial installs.

our free play time was beta. how many months of beta did you participate in?
I tested since open beta.
yes it's a testing period, but you'd be lying out your ass if you said it didn't give you a good idea whether or not you'd buy the game.
for all the "testing" we did we still had plenty of opportunities to enjoy the game.
which is why a 7 day free trial is a good idea.

I don't think peolpe are complaining about there being a 7-day trial. I think most of us are all for people getting a 7 day trial. I think what people are slightly annoyed about is the people who were on their 7th or 8th 7 day free trial.

Because of who his question was regarding.

Ummm...ok. But he's saying he was in the Beta since open beta and thus had time to try the game out for free before it went live. You were in since exclusive meaning you also had time to try the game before it went live. His point, I think, is that it's easy for we who were in Beta to say "I pay, why shouldn't you?" when we had months of free playtime to try out the game before we had to buy it and start paying the subscription. I guess I just don't see how you being in since exclusive even applies to his argument, but maybe it's just me.
I agree with him, sorta. But then I'm not annoyed by the people who tried it for a week and then either decided to buy it or not to buy it. I'm annoyed by the leeching asshats that used free trials to play for free for two months.

I do agree with you elf and completely understand, why should these abusers get it free when you guys have to pay. However they could have easily implemented a solution to stop abuse.
Make them give a credit card number!! Even if you are not going charge us for the use of the 7 day trial u can put a marker against each card number or name and address of the person and voila, at best people are only going to get a couple goes out of it.
Ok people could use false numbers but then they run the risk of getting done for credit card fraud and i doubt the majority of people are willing to go that far for just a trial!!
You also get rid of those people who have no interest in buying the game at all and are just there for the free ride.
Hell you could even charge 5 for the week. I would rather that then having to fork out 30 to find out

About the game its actually a nice game .. sure the tutorials dont work, but those dont really matter The game doesnt have much bugs that stop u from playin, there are a few annoyin gameplay bugs but thats about it. and about the speedhack its already been fixed and that was pretty fast

There IS a way to trial the game. Find a friend with PS. He can give you a 7 day trial, with the friendship key that came with the game. HOWEVER, I am assuming, now, that since this thread was conceived, that you DON'T have a friend with this game, otherwise you would have either asked him, or seen him play it.
That said, PlanetSide is very sweet. YES, there was, and probably still is cheaters. I won't point fingers, but I HAVE seen a few. Yes, there is still Team Killers, but I'm afraid that will never go away. But there are some good sides to this game. The first being the massive battles I have seen and participated in. Imagine 250 players on each side, roughly 200 ground troops(Snipers/Heavy Infantry weaponry/Anti Vehicle weaponry/Grenades flying all over) and about 35 vehicles driving and even flying around (being that there are sometimes 2 or even 3 to a vehicle), and all this happening on both sides, JUST TO CROSS A BRIDGE. Massive battle for a choak point(sp).
For us people with nice systems, good vid cards, xDSL or Cable connections, this battle is SaaWeeet. Usually would end with one side slowly losing ground as the other side gains an advantage. I've only once seen a battle like this last hours. (lasted 2 1/2 hours just for a tower)
So, that said, if you can't get a trial, you should get the full version. I don't think you'll be disappointed. I didn't get the trial. I couldn't. (CRC decompression errors) I almost couldn't get the game to install. But I am SOOO glad it did work, and that I've been playing for the past month. And I paid 75 canadian for this game, plus 20 canadian for the next month.

I'm glad they did this. There was a way with non static IPs you could get a new free trial every week. Yay!

Had nothin to do with your IP besides if it did and lets say the person uses that IP's free trial. Then changes there service provider therefore changing their IP address. The next person who recieves the previous IP address wont have a trial.
I am not gald they cancelled the trials but understand why they did. However as i have said before whoever planned it was pretty lame as they could have put measures into avoiding its abuse.
