I've only had the game for 2 days and I had dubious thoughts on whether a 56k modem would cut it on a game like this (played FPS games online before and...well, not good basically).
Without access to anything faster I'm having real problems trying to warp through to any populated area in a reaver...I warp in, then WHAM, dead :( ...is it a lag thing? Or did I do something very wrong? (fly in too fast, go in at the wrong angle etc).
The euro server is especially cramped at the moment in the evenings, I was stuck standing next to a door for over a minute last night before it would open, same problems trying to sort out some equipment...
Do cable/broadband users feel this as well sometimes? Or could it be put down to a 56k issue? :(

if you mean when you fly into a warp gate th egame chucks you out, then....
i've got 512k cable and use the werner server, and i get the same thing... just start the game up again...
the prolem you may have from this is that due to your 56k connection, the game may chuck you out completely (rather than just chucking you out.... i know what i mean) and you may have to start again....
anyway, that's what i've found...

Honestly, I'm not 56k by choice...UK player in a rural area, they won't install the necessary broadband equipment unless there's demand for it, so I'm SOL basically :P
I've only been thrown out completely a couple of times and that's during a busy evening period, usually it's just warping in - I get out of the vehicle (apparently) mid-air as soon as I zone in, and instant explosion sometimes...doesn't happen with vans and ground vehicles, I might do a switch :P
Something that PS devs should be looking at, amongst the 100 other problems they've got to deal with at the moment ;)

Thats one of the things I like about the phone company that I work for. We're spending a lot of money trying to get DSL to rural areas.

I was on 512k in Beta and issues like that were abundant accross the servers, now I'm on 1024k on Werner and the lag is for the most part not even noticeable ... I'm not sure HOW this helps you with your problem but there ya go :p

ThaliaXI go here
http://www.ispreview.co.uk/
and here
http://www.adslguide.org/
they contain information on how many more people need to register before trigger levels for ADSL are met and as such available. All details are region / town specific.
ADSLguide's tracker is good and easy to understand.

I hope u get adsl soon if u do go with wisesurfer.

Be sure to set your bandwidth settings to low in game options.

Some good feedback :)
I already had my bandwidth setting on low, I've already signed up as an interested party for broadband equipment to be installed in my local exchange.
I've since stopped flying a reaver and opted for a bit of assistance work instead as an AMS driver (plus flattening pedestrians is hugely fun) ;)
...ISDN though, I'll have to look into it - anyone know a rough pricing for it? Before broadband's appearance I know BT were keeping the price very high.

Flattening pedestrians....Oh yeah baby. Welcome to the club. *Shakes hand* I love to do that and hear that high pitched Scream. In Renegade all you got was a *BOINK* when you killed someone. I loved hearing that *BOINK* Now I love hearing those screams. Scream for me Ponch, scream for me......
Uh...I guess I got off the subject. I feel for your 56K'ers. Sucks. Sucks sucks sucks.

ISDN is about 70 installation and 30 each month about the same as braodband if ur super riche u could get ISDN 30e 30 64 kps lines that can be comined = bye bye lag so around 2mps the same as v fast ASDL but this costs around 200 pound instalation:eek: and 50 a month:eek:  so u would have to be very well off but standerd ISDN should be good at 2 64kps lines 128kps maximum out of both lines when mines installed thats about 4 times the speed of mine at the moment lag will still be there but minimal
so go for 2e and u should be fine do some research though
