Bair with me, i dont completely know what im talking about here.
Basically I have a 32mb radeon vid card that im using to run planetside... its time to upgrade.
What would u all suggest i upgrade too (give a few suggest as currently im not made of money)? The 128's are what i have my eye on, any reason to try and go higher?
Also, is there any types of specifications that would keep my computer from running any radeon product? Like do i need to be watching the type of ram it works with and such?
thanks in advance, u guys already helped me with my memory a while back and did a great job, so i know u wont let me down.

well, it depends on how much money u wanna spend. i would suggest either the radeon 9500pro or 9600pro. the 9500pro is sorta hard to find, but both are about the same price, around 170-180. If you wanna spend a little more money, you could get the 9700pro. never get the non-pro edition. its not as fast.

I appreciate the help.... even if it was from a tr :D
i looked earlier today and the 9600 pro was around the price range i can work with, 9800 pro was pushing it.
However the normal 9800 (non pro) was also in the price range. which would be better 9600 pro or 9800 (non pro)? or is the difference to minimal for the 100 buck diff?

well obviously, the 9800 non-pro would be better, but you would not see a difference between it and the 9600pro. i would stick with the 9600pro, then u can use the extra 100 for more ram. cause thats the main factor for most PS players, the amount of ram.

lemme consult my sources...hmmm...ok, if you want top of the line, get the ATI Radeon 9800 Pro. (aprox. $500(retail)) but you want 128mb RAM, right? at a good price...lets see...ahh! the Radeon 9600 Pro should do it. $200 (retail, i think) and it supports DirectX 9.0 for 3D gaming

I would go with the 9800 non pro myself. It's just as fast as the 9700pro and you'll be able to get DX9.0 support right off the bat. RAM is so cheap these days that if you wait another month and save up, you'll have another stick of 512 then.

yeah, definitely the 9800 non pro is good, there is a difference between it and the 9600 Pro

the only difference between the 9800 non pro and the 9800 pro is the clock/memory speeds and voltage. You can get a bios flash that give more voltage to the non pro which makes, and then changes the stock speeds to a pro, and then you have a 9800 pro. I did it, and it works great.
It only works with a certain type of samsung memory though.

I'm currently running XP Pro SP1 with 512 DDR ram and a ti 4200 vid card with a DSL connection.
I'm having alot of problems playing this game. I'll be upgrading to a Radeon 9700 Pro in about a week. I'm hearing that that may not be the best move. I thought that card was the hot thing (before the 9800 Pro) for the money.
