Unfortunately I wasted my time on that game, I still have all my cards although I really don't play the game any more. But like I said I have round $1000 worth of cards, I have accumulated quite a large set over 6 years of playing. I had my fun with it, but I prefer to spend my money on better things, like my new surf board, and hopefully later a new car! *PLUG* I am going to sell them all if anyone is interested, I can hook up pics and a list of all the rares, have round 100 of um

I'd still be playing the online version if it didnt have a community full of asshats that sit there and dont let the game end.
That and the online game just sucks anyway

Dude, why would you waste your money on the online version? I mean, it was pretty stupid to blow my money on cards, but blowing money on non existant digital magic cards!?!?!? I mean come on! LOL

-takes a bow-
thanks for the overwhelming love for my response.
i used to know these kids who are just beyond words disgusting losers and played it all the time. also, i find it kind of lame that many 35 year olds who still live with their parents play it. no offense to the exceptions out there but i don't have problems with stereotypes that are mostly true.

Chimp, it wasnt my money, so I didnt care. ;) Although it would have helped to actually KNOW that you had to spend REAL money on the cards. I thought you "won" some "fake" money. :(

Don't mind Diluted, he's what's known as a troll. He also has problems forming complete sentences and tends come off as a complete ass after every post he makes, probably because he is. This would be why he finds pictures, usually relating to his homosexual orientation, to toss out instead of anything remotely resembling an intelligent post.
Like I said, don't mind him. He's a lot like that little dog next door that yaps all night because it was recently neutered (and no, Diluted neuter isn't the cookie with the fruit filling).
This post brought to you by the AAPSFSTAF, the letter P and the number 3.

hahaha ok man whatever.
awww i'm not a grammar nazi boohoo. :tear:
i don't see anything wrong with 1) "problems forming complete sentences" (every post isn't a fucking english test) and 2) i see extremely little wrong with the grammar i use
so i have opinions that can be negative. go cry in the corner over it. either that or go play m:tg to escape into fantasyland.

No, Cifer, you have negative opinions and that's all you have. You like to bitch like a small child over everything or at the very least try to slam it. You suck at expressing yourself in written form, you suck at flaming, and I'm willing to bet your father has spent many a night wishing he had pulled out at that critical moment. Now go back to trying to gloat about other peoples kills ;)

I used to play it for about five years. Ha, I almost fail Math 30 because I was always skipping to duel with friends. My favorate set was Ice Age and I liked using the Elder Dragon Legends. But I gave up the game, because My friend's played it, and if I even tried I could kick their asses easy, and then they'd get pissed off at me for stomping them, so I stopped trying to win, and got bored to tears playing with them, as they'd still get mad at me, because I could still kick their asses. And then all the many counter spells came out, and then it just became stupider, and stupider to even try to play. My cards were getting countered constantly. And there were times when I'd have to sit through a friken counter spell war. "I counter your counter of your counter...blah blah blah." It was just fun for me because I always played black, and black had some sweet pain card. Even if they hurt me, I'd still use them. I even managed to kill everyone all at the same time, which isn't easy against 5 opponents.

I played M:TG for a long time. It was what my friends and I always did when we got together. Eventually it kinda broke apart. Some of the guys moved. Drugs claimed others. Some just decided they didn't want to play and sold their cards. Pretty much the only people you find now are 14 or 15 year olds who graduated from pokemon and the 35 year olds who still live with their mom.
Besides all that, the game itself went downhill after it was bought out. They have a card now that makes you discard half your deck. If that isn't a load of BS I dunno what is.

Magic is a card game for the thinking man. Probably explains the responses of a select few.
That pretty much sums up everything i was gonna say to Diluted.
Magic the Gathering was, and still is, the greatest strategical card game ever invented. The rules were awesome and the strategies they allowed were infinite.
Matches between two good decks were some seriuos shit. People who have never played have no idea the level of strategy and tactics that goes into a fight.
I cant believe all the watered down crap that has come into the world since then. Everytime I see my nephew playing that POS Yu-gi-oh i want to smack him and his friends around. That game is absolute BS. No thinking, no tactics, no nothing. I've played games of Solitaire that were more intence.
I havent played in a loooong time. Got maybe 2,000 cards in my old room back home. It was awesome in middle school, the shiznit in early highschool, but I lost interest in playing in late high school once drug dealing and sex started taking over my attention. *shrug* Ill give em to my kid and see if he's got his old man's tactical abilities.

besides you pissing on yourself over my opinions and statements, which i'm thoroughly enjoying, please give me actual backing to this. what i post on a forum describes less than a single percentage of me - so since you're so vastly superior in all ways, tell me how you somehow know me like a book. and don't pull everything out of your ass while trying to make youself look profound and special this time, either.

Awwww, the jizz bucket still wants to play. That's so cute. Of course I don't know you, Cifer. I can only know what you choose to put forth on these boards, which is a, well, see my above post. Spider; his deck isn't tournament legal then.. i'll admit, to keep a tournament legal deck (that isn't virtual) you have to shell out cash for new cards, but I play online a bit with Appr1.46. It has all the updated cards in it, and believe it or not, it does take of creativity to make a good tourney legal deck.
Happy lil Elf
2003-09-04, 07:48 PM
Yeah there have been combos since the game started that were banned from tournaments because they're unfair. Just play him with tournament legal decks :p

Whats wrong with referring to somebody as a pokemon graduate or a 35 year old who lives with his mom if that is what they are? I've been visiting my local hobby store once a week since I was 16 (I'm 21 now) and I recognize many of the regulars there on sight. I remember when many of the younger magic players were begging their moms for Pokemon cards and I know the scary old guys who live in their mothers basement and take out loans to buy magic cards (yes, I know a guy who did this)
I have no problem with these people and the names given to them were not meant to necessarily be insulting but thats what society thinks of them as. I don't have a problem with the 12 year old magic players but I'd prefer to play with somebody who can recognize a wheel of fortune on sight and knows what lightning bolt and fireball do. I'd also rather not play with somebody who insist you refer to the card by its actual name and not the nickname you made for it and can name off every other card that particular artist did the artwork for. Those people scare me.

I love Magic the Gathering... Just my deck is horrible, I have about 50 purchased "decks" and nothing else, so I have a pretty large collection of cards, but none of the "uber" card.
I have a question though... Are there any Magic The Gathering games that you can play vs an AI other then the one for dos from way back when? I know that game had a demo with like 3 decks, but Microprose made it I believe, so I can not buy it any more. (I do not mean MtG Online, I really do not want to plunk down money for online cards since I have the real cards here. Also I do not even know if you can play vs an AI in MtG:O)

Other than that old one for DOS I don't think there are any. There was one that let you play online with other people using decks you created yourself from the databank of cards and allowed for downloading updates to get new cards but it was buggy as hell. I basically just used it to build decks on the computer instead of hunting through card boxes to look for combos since 9/10 of the games with other people (there was no AI opponent) would crash.
Man I almost wanna break them out and play a game. I think it's probably been over two years since I even opened the boxes they're in :p

Actually, there IS a single player MTG game for Win 95. And If I didnt know better, I'd swear I was playing MTG online with old cards. :O_O: They also made a really, REALLY terrible RTS version of MTG for the PS one.

Yeah! That is the one I am thinking of then... By Microprose...
Does anyone have any clue how I might go about finding a copy of that? Ebay has a few, but I didn't see anyone with a good enough feedback, I think the only one that looked like the real thing had 0 feedback :/

Hope that helps. :)

There is a new Magic: The Gathering Battlegrounds coming out that promises to have single-player content.
http://www.us.atari.com/games/magic_battlegrounds_action_pc/
Also, check out Etherlords II coming out soon. It has familiar MTG style gameplay. The single-player demo is at http://www.fileplanet.com/files/120000/129691.shtml
And finally, a parody from Eminem's song titled "Lose Yourself" off the major motion picture soundtrack "8 Mile" complete with .mp3

I still have not been able to find the game anywhere... Someone on ebay is selling it for almost $30... I don't think so...
No store has it either from what I have seen.
And the new Magic Battlegrounds game does not look like what I want either... I just want a plain ole Magic the gathering game, no special fx or anything to get in the way of a 5-10 min game...
Also when I played there was only two expansions out, I now hear they added a whole new color!? I would be totally lost with that stuff...
Spider

I hear nothing of a new color....
Still is: Blue, white, black, red, green and Colorless...

Yeah I play. I quit 5 years ago, then started playing again with friends 6 months ago.
I have all new cards, but now I've become really bored with it because I like making interesting combo decks and I've tapped out all the new cards, so I'm probably gonna quit again.
