View Full Version : Defense Idea to give a *little* more reward...

I spent all night last night soloing. I was BR18, and about 3 Blocks away from BR19. I spent most of the night fighting to hold a base we already had. Our forces fought onward and capped a few bases, all the while I defended. But yet I still made BR19 last night. 3 blocks of XP at BR18 on kill xp alone is not too shabby.
So I was thinking. Maybe it would be simple, maybe not. But if an empire has a base... then what if kill XP even when squaded was the same as solo XP for any player who gets a kill inside a friendly SOI. A full squad would still get 100+ xp for grunt kills and 200-300+ for Max kills.
Now granted this wouldn't be as good as a base cap, but as I said in the title of the thread... it would give *a little* more reward for those who fight to defend.

i like that idea VERY much. As an NC on emerald we need more reasons to get our guys to stay and defend.
i dont know what it is latly about nc on emerald... but like 4 times last night i was at a friendly base or a base being hacked and we'd loose hack constantly cause not enough people wanted to take the time to guard the cc.
its like nc's stuck in attack mode and then gets a look on their face like a retareded kid gettin hit in the head by a base ball when we loose a hack. im hoppin its just a phase but this idea would help greatly.

That sounds great. The Terren end up defending a base for long perionds of time and never really do anything else. they go into a last stand alamo mode
I would love to se this added becasue i know being forced to stay and fight for a base would be worth itSuicide is like saying to god "You cant fire me!" "I quit!" http://stats.planetsidegaming.com/16/411055/stats.png

I think that is an awesome idea. I myself usually am one of the only people at an exposed base, trying to defend. I've held some places for about 2min vs Light Zerging, and did not get much recognition while all the other nc were racking up 5000xp caps. The very few of us at that base didn't get much for protecting the continent from reinvasion.
I do have one question though: when I am soloing, the most xp I ever get is something like 40xp for a kill. You guys are talking 100xp for a grunt kill...how, where, why, when? Do you need a certain weapon? What is the most effective way to battle a max?
The 2 best anti-max weapons are:
1. Decimator. 2 shot kill. Use alt fire (camera mode) to detonate the missile at anything beyond extremely close range, otherwise you're wasting ammo.
2. Mini Chaingun with armor piercing rounds. Less than 1 box of ammo will gang bang any MAX. The trick is to get right up so you're firing point blank, hold down the trigger, and keep strafing around to keep out of his line of sight.

Yes, I agree that this is a great idea. I have more fun defending a base from attack than actually attacking and moving on.

Kill xp is based on several things. Some of these things are how long the person has lived, what armor they are in, and I think what weapons they are carrying (but I could be wrong). Maybe you've only killed lighter people, or people who have just respawned, either that or you forgot to quit your squad when going soloing.
I'm all for the idea of getting normal solo xp when squading. Right now I need CR and BR alot until I get to the point where I don't want any more, then I'll defend more. Proabably 4/5 times I'll be attacking and 1 of those 5 defending. Also we need some more defense features to give us some defense against the zerg.

this is a GREAT idea.
atm there is absolutely no reason to defend anything. :(
we need some definitive motivation for defense, nobody ever wants to defend. we'd rather let our enemies take our entire continent, then go take it back once they are done.
