Fact: If you're killed in a small car, it's probably because another small car hit you. 56% of all small-car fatalities involved only small cars. 46% of small car fatalities occurred when the driver hit something other than a another vehicle. Only 1% (that's 136 of 12,144 small car deaths) involved small car collisions with BOTH mid-size cars and SUVs. Small cars make up 9.3% of the cars on the road, but are involved in 53% of all accidents and 37% of all traffic fatalities. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's director says, "If you want to solve the safety puzzle, get rid of small cars."

2. Myth: Small cars pollute less than big cars. Fact: The federal standards are the same for all cars and the regs are written in "grams per mile," not grams per gallon. No matter what the size of the car or its engine, it cannot pollute more than the federal-per-mile standards.

3. Myth: SUVs weigh more and have bigger engines. A Lincoln Town Car with a V-8 engine enjoys no wrath from the anti-SUVites despite its weight being nearly the same as or more than most SUVs. A Suburban is about 100 pounds more than a Tahoe but is perceived as more evil.

4. Myth: SUV drivers are more reckless and likely to violate the law. Fact: SUV drivers are the wimps of the road. Their profile: they make over $100,000 each year and many don't even know how to get their SUVs into four-wheel drive. The greatest risk for accidents, traffic violations, and fatalities comes from unlicensed drivers, not SUV drivers who are not only licensed and insured drivers, but also Einstein-Bagels-frequent-buyer-card carriers. If we really want to prevent fatal accidents we should simply wear seat belts.

I mostly dislike SUV's because from what I've seen. Alot of people who drive them think "I'm bigger, get out of my way or else". Many have even told me this. Also, alot of people don't know how to drive a large vehicle like a SUV. My conclusion, make large vehicle's have special classifications on license like motorcycles. But I also think cars with alot of horsepower and torque per pound should have a special classifications also.

Some of our posters are NOT americans, they are CAnadians, EU people, some even from otehr places.

In some places, driving a vehicle that makes YOU safer, at the expense of other drivers is unthinkable, everyone should drive the same dangerous vehicles.. its only fair.

SOME people belive that the Earth is going to be so scarred by mans use of fossil fuels, that to drive anything less then the most econmical car available, is to spit on future generations. (mind you, the scientific community, I am talking about those indepedant orginizations, not the PRO-GREENIE or PRO_AUTO INDUSTRY types, have all concluded that Global warming is junk science...)

SOME people belive that it is UNFAIR that one person can afford a $60k vehicle while someone else might only be able to drive a 15-20k vehicle thus thats unfair and not right...

SOME people belive that ALL SUV drivers are ego maniacs out to rule the road because o fsome sort of infiriority complex..

NOTE, 90% of all anti-SUV crap is based on FEELINGS.. nothing more.. Some pople are just more sensitive.

Some people talk like everything is politically motivated.

Some people think that individuals who badmouth SUVs are following a brainwashed manifesto rather than making a personal choice.

Some people jump to uninformed conclusions about the people on opposing sides of an argument.

Don't forget that 90% of all the pro-SUV crap is marketing, and the people who get upset on either side of it are oversensative.

Also note that claiming that 90% of something is something else sounds solid, but really isn't.

Well In my opinion SOME of those places are wrong. People should be able to drive what they can afford. Saftey comes at a price that can only be bought by SOME people. Not everyone is equal and life will never be fair. This is the sad truth so SOME people better get use to it.

The scientific community understands that some molecules are better at retaining energy from the sun than others.

The scientific community knows that when our atmosphere is better at retaining energy, the average temperature of the earth goes up.
