that gate force feald looks kick ass and it makes it harder for enamys to attack but the vanu maxs would have an advantege b/ the can fly over the wall and the last thing anyone wants to see is 8 vanu maxs jump over the wall =(

Its about time Vanu MAXes were good for something in base assaults. Now we also have significant boosts to defenses with MAX/vehicle reuse time decreased. Not to mention health. Damage in spawn rooms should help out a whole lot too. :clap:

The pain module sounds boss, I want one of the emitters in the generator room.
This rases the interesting question of *how* base assaults will happen. Granted, not every base will have the forcefield gates, but in the event they do, and excluding Vanu MAXes, how will you get in? Dave said they'll be making backdoors inside-hackable within the month, and he also said that they'll never make airdrops the *ONLY* way to get in... interesting delemma.
Anyone care to bet where the modules will install in the base? :D
[EDIT: Silly me, didn't notice that infantry can pass through the forcefield. Still, base attacks will be a lot more interesting in the comming three months.]

Yes the force field only blocks vehics, not infantry or maxes, so it doesnt matter about the vanu maxes. I already applied, dont know if my comp is uber neough tho. Sounds interesting, I wanna see some screens of the underground though.

Bah! I gusse VS maxes jumping won't get to effective yet... When you jump your flight path is pretty predicatable, you get shot down by strikers, and when you jump into a base over the wall you normally die before you even hit the ground. Oh well...

yea you die when you hit the ground with 1 guy solo but when there are 20 there are to many guys to shot at onecs

I dislike the look of the forcefield. It's neat but impractical, just make it translucent and tinted the color of the empire which owns it.

i agree with you it looks to fancie it should just be thin and tinted red for me b/c im Terran Republice :( i think thats how you spell it

Yeah, thats a good point. So VS are going to have a big advantage.
TR MAXs can just plant them selfs and pelt the sheild till it collapases.
NC MAXs can well..errrmmm... stand there with there nice colorful sheild and get shot.
( When are they going to do something about that pants NC MAX sheild... god, al least let is stay active while im shooting!!!. )

One Striker rocket depletes the shield, making it about useless, and thats if you turn it on.

if every fasility has a force field the vanu would have that attacking bounise if they had like 30 or say 40 maxs organized attaking and then they get the force field for them where us TR and ns have to distroy the shield takeing twice the time it took the vanu to take it :(

They should have a damage limit, like a holding action or something or it's invinceble except infantry but you can disable it like in that barracks place

If the forcefield only takes a few tanks shells to take it out, it will be a complete waste of time.
Will it be destroyable? That's the question? I'm sure it can be disabled somehow, but is it's easy to destroy. I'm sure the TR are going have it easy there with 4,000 striker shots.

My guess is you have to bring down the gens to bring down the shield. Or possibly wait for the base to go neutral?

As I said in the base defense thread, instead of a sheild per se I think it should be more like a half door. That rises out of the ground, or just lays up. Like some bases that have the 3 foot tall walls, sometimes you have to drive around them. Imagine one large door with openings (gaps) for infantry on the sides. You could defend those openings from the sides while keeping enemy vehicles on the outside until the attacking empire hacks the door and lets them in. This would keep mag mowers and ams's out of my own CY, at least for a little bit but still allow for infantry to strom, but in a more controled manner... catch my drift? I can explain this more but if someone wants to run with this please do... it's a better alternative to a "shield".

You're turning a completely unrelated thread into another Striker bitch. Never mind the fact that the shield isn't a vehicle, and never mind the fact that the Striker would actually do less damage than either deci's or Phoenix's (or tank shells as Elf points out).
