56kers usually have problems with lag.

Thing was, i cvould have ALL the fluff/graphics/whatsoever on, and hit 30 FPS in big fights, not even a bad lag...
Now, with all the settings off, im lucky to hit 2 FPS
Just happend this patch :(

I've seen no change in FPS whatsoever, so it's not a global problem.

Mine have gone up substantially. They only went below 20 once since the patch, and I sit on 100+ during low activity.

Someone on the PS tech board gave the explanation that the new patch increased FPS, but at the same time uses ~300mb more RAM.
"If you have less than 512mb of RAM PS has to use system pagefile. If it has to do this the game of course falls apart - every turned corner leaves the disk churning and any busy areas are unplayable."
I don't know if this is true, but it does sound very logical. That would explain why some people experience "lag" and some are getting much better FPS.
My suggestion is to shut off all progs other than PS and if you are running a voice prog, it shouldn't take up too much RAM. That includes all the crap that is in the startup (look in the lower right hand corner). If you have less than 512mb RAM, you really should think about upgrading. 512mb of RAM is now becoming the "lower" standard...and in a few months, 1024mb RAM will be standard.

I never had huge problems on 56k before, played for an hour after the new patch and it's unplayable.

If the game is using more RAM, then that's why I'm suddenly getting stutters and major lag.
Before the patch I was able to play with low video settings and not have a single problem all night. Now I generally have sporatic stutters and long periods of lag.
If things get worse I'm going to have to go back to board games.:D

I have noticed marked improvement. I can now enjoy the game at high settings.

Only in the wonderful, life-changing world of computers are we satisfied, no, we are HAPPY to purchase things that need to be fixed every 2 or 3 weeks. From our operating systems, to our games and other applications. Would you be happy with a car that had what amounts to a factory recall every 6 months? Of course you wouldn't... They have no fucking idea how these programs will really run untill we Beta test them. And we pay for the fucking privildege. Hell, sometimes we are Alpha testers...
