Err you dont need a tesla coil. Or whatever the fuck it is, Just take a paper cup fromt he bathroom. Put the cd on top of it, microwave 5-7 seconds, watch the show. Didnt you read the article?

Yeah I did, 90% of it was showing those kickass lightning things. Cool idea though. I'm not about to try it, but cool Idea.

Wouldn't the "electrical storms" damage your microwave?

Quote from article:
Caution! be ready to stop the oven when the CD-ROM starts to smoke. The smoke smells bad, and is probably bad for you.

... well, no shit.

It cant break the microwave. The surface of the CD only reflects and makes the waves visible to the naked eye. how can microwave waves hurt a microwave?

Ahh I thought it was like putting a fork in the microwave.

I consider my microwave poisoning my food hurting my microwave. Try taking some chemistry and physics when you get into high school.

Tesla Coil (http://www.hills2.u-net.com/tesla.htm)

The setup consists of a high voltage AC source, Tr1, which is typically a neon sign transformer powered from a domestic mains supply. This gives a typical output at the secondary of 6 to 15kV, at a few tens of mA and 50 or 60Hz frequency. So, I can have this in my living room?

They have many uses, what are you talking about? They are good for frisbees, coasters, if you use some heavy duty scissors you can fashion ninja stars out of them as well.

The unnessasary flame was saying if you knew anything about chemistry or physics you would understand that some poisonous resin might be left behind.

Yes it was very unecessary, and you dont need to know anything about chemistry or physics to know about something that burns leaving resin behind. And thanks for making the assumption that i dont know anything about chemistry or pysics, Boy you sure do know alot about me for being a random stranger on a forum.
