there is falling damage as the screenshot showed. its not so much that you cant jump off a wall or bridge and die, but you wouldn't want to do that too many times in a row either.

Kinetic Dampeners??????? So what good are they? Why can't we get a straight answer about these damn things. I want HALO jumps damnit!

They reduce damage, not eliminate, noone said you could jump out of a plane and be in fighting condition when you hit the ground, they just said you wouldn't be wearing a toe tag.

I wish we could see some stats or %'s. I'd like to know. It really sucks that an advanced bunch of people like this didn't find a way to parachute better.

Maybe they could integrate 1-time use retro-rockets. When you reach a certain point off the ground, the rockets fire, gradually slowing you down until you land without harm on the ground. Of course, as you are slowing, you would be vulnerable, but that has always been part of paratrooper shtuff. The character would detach and discard the used rockets after landing, or they would do it automatically. It would look damn cool too, 10 NC Agile armors plummeting out of a Galaxy, rocket exhaust begins shooting off pods on their legs as the slow and land on a roof, snap off the pods, and commence firing. It would not be available to MAXes, adding a challenge. Also, a co-ordinated HALO, armor, and airforce strike on a base would rock. Attack coming from the outside, from the air, and working its way down through the building from a roof hatch.

Something like parachutes would be nice but I think they didn't want a bunch of people dropping from a galaxy or something from really high up and landing in a base. Falling damage is there for a reason I just hope it's implemented correctly. I don't want to fall 5ft and lose half my health (exaggeration). :D
