I know it doesnt really hurt anything but comeon why the hell are we payin the 13 bucks a month. I know exactly why we are paying 13 a month and i dont have a problem with it, but i should be able to play a game without looking at a ad. I goto the movies for this

Dont get me wrong. There are a lot of things that erk me about greedy money grabbers at SOE, but it does not hurt me to have a small logo on the load screen. It can only benifit us if SOE make more money from it, how ever little that benifit might be.

Stop whining about silly things and whine about proper things, like the rest of us ;-)

You really need to seek therapy if you get so stressed at little advert pics appearing in your load up screen that they cause you to go off on one.

If Intel thinks they can sell a few more chips by sticking a logo on Planetside, when probably the vast majority of players are already using P4s then let them spend some of their dumptruck full of money on it.

If it offends you that there is advertising crammed into something you are paying for, please stop watching cable, going to movies, or reading magazines and continue using the various free forms of media out there such as the radio, exciting industry specific rags, and those wonderful flyers in your mailbox.

So you're using rabbit ears on your television and that's it? As far as I know, that's the only free television that I can think of, otherwise you certainly are paying for your channels. HBO is a different beast altogether. If you have cable/Dish/DirectTV then you're paying for channels. Comedy Central has commercials, ESPN has commercials, everybody but a select few channels which don't come with the basic package have commercials.

And I went to the movies on Friday and had a Vanilla Pepsi commercial when the movie was supposed to have started.

Um .. All i know is they stopped playing commercials soon as the movie is supposed to start around my area. and with tv do u think the commercials are making networks money or cable companies money ? Im not a cable expert but im guessing the networks. Also ill use the internet connection as an example it goes in with the same area of TV. Your paying for your connection not the websites meaning different companies on websites are ganna run ads to make money(just like tv channels). If ur paying for a internet connection im assuming they arnt sending ads to you

I do have to take issue with the advertisements in any game, however. I've always been in the mindset that if you pay for something, you ARE the source of income and shouldn't have to look at advertisements (secondary income). If they want to fill the screen with ads for the 7-day trialers, thats just great.. i understand they need to make money some how. But when we already pay $49+13/mo, i figure we've put enough in the pot to enjoy an ad-free gaming experience.

And to those who argue that SOE isn't making enough money on this game to be ad-free, so what. Then They need to improve it to attract more paying customers. Expecting the income from ads to shore up the budget deficit is like putting a plastic bag on a sucking chest wound...

Not all P4's have hyperthreading technology, and the software dont need to be special to "use" it. Any multi threaded application will utalize it if its there. ( and more applications are multi-threaded! ).

Its a principle, i pay to play PS not to watch ads. It should be 100% commercial free ingame. I wouldn't mind a p4 splash screen like the SOE logo, but advertising ingame annoys the hell out of me.

Last time i checked, SOE wasn't hurting so bad that they had to put ingame ads in EQ or SWG, so why PS? Hmm.. maybe because EQ and SWG dont need supercomputers to run smoothly? First of all, the duckt tape will leave marks on my monitor. Secondly it would render part of my screen useless so its not a solution.

My point is, for those who need a summary. Is that it is not the size of the ad or it's placement as the fact that it's there at all in a game i'm paying for (not for much longer dependign how it looks). As a side fact that loading screen seems to pop up a lot of times when it didnt use to now, so i do think it has affected my gameplay experience.

As to the eighth grade thing i'm not even going to touch that, your world is too controlled and ordered for you to truely be crazy. Having said that I whould recomend reading over spanish at this point, better to get your own language to where it's readable before working on someone elses si?

Now, I usually just read forums, and I don't post, cause I see it as a waste of time. People get pissed about ANYTHING and just flame all over the place. But when I read this post, I felt compelled to insert my own opinion. I don't like the ad. It's like paying money for XM radio only to have them put in commercials. We have subscriptions. It's not a big enough problem to cancel over it, and to be honest, I don't get all upset and cry everytime I see it, but I don't like the fact that its there. As far as you go my little friend, you have a LOT of learning to do in life. You're arguements strike an incredible resemblence to that of my little sisters. If you think that everyone else can just shove it, then you gonna be pissed off for the rest of your life. In any case, my little "flame" is done. I guess my point was: Kid, you've got a long life in front of you. There are millions of people in the world. You'd better learn to respect peoples' opinions because one day its gonna come back and bite you in the ass. that is what i've been trying 2 say. who cares if its there. its probelly geting SOE some extra money 2 spend on finding exploits and cheaters and bugs. that may be a good news OR bad news. depends on who u are. and ive had tons of problems with ppl about my personallty Cyskoraeban. they think im an idot and an ass. i usually just deal with it. the only person that gets me really pissed is doppler. if u want 2 see what ppl think about me go to the thread intiled the real story behind the vs. and dont post *where wating for it 2 die*

The ad bothers me in no way shape or form.

However, I do think it would be cool to have an Inifiti or BMW logo on my Deliverer. Someone please Photoshop a BMW logo on a Del. Please just for me.

And just so y'all know - sports games, especially racing games, have had ads of all sorts in them for ages. EA had a 60's racing game which had tons of real-life car-maker sponsors. It only makes sense that a demanding game such as PS would attract companies who make high-end computing products as sponsors.

hmm could it be because they have ads on racing cars in real life ..Have u ever been to a race track theres ads everywhere of course they are ganna have them in the game

Yes, there are lots of sponsors at race tracks, but the point was that the sponsors in the EA game were unique to the game. They actually worked out a deal with EA for the exposure.

And don't try to change the subject. I want a BMW logo on a Deliverer.

The ad doesn't really bother me, but i can understand why some people are getting perturbed...

However, to make the loading screen completely accurate, there should be little ads saying

"Runs best with 1Gig of *insert manufacturer here* RAM"

or

"Runs Best with Nvidia Fx 5900 256MB GFX"

Cos even with a P4 (and believe me, i far prefer AMD, no Flames please) if you haven't got the RAM or GFX card to back it up, then the game is gonna be shitty...

your right. i have a penitum 4, enogh memory 2 run the game, and a decent graphic card and the game still has horibbly FPS. but the ad is nothing. its kind of funny. i made a macro out of it 2 annoy 1 of my friends. and i want 2 see a gal with Dominos ad underneth it so when they look up they get disratced by the ad and i get some cheap kills.
