View Full Version : Is there a vehicle speed hack out?

Last night I saw two cases where vehicles were moving faster than they should and I'm wondering what's up.

1. I saw an ANT traveling about the same speed as my Lightning.

2. I was going 74 kph in my Lightning and had a Magrider go blowing by me about the same speed as a Reaver. It certainly wasn't lag, because I tried to trail him as long as I could before he cut across a lake and I lost him.

I'm really hoping there's an innocent explaination for both these cases otherwise there's another cheat out there we got to deal with.:(

There is something definately going on. I watched a Marauder the other day zip around at incredible speed. It wasn't a temporary glitch or warp. And I know how fast Marauders go... this buggy was scooting much faster than they legitimately travel. I watched this Marauder drive around the base at these speeds for several minutes.

I still think there is a grunt speed hack too. I ran into someone last night that was moving much faster than normal. And I ran into this same person over and over. I was in a pickup squad, but I didn't say anything to anyone. Then not much later people in the squad started remarking about it as well, so I wasn't the only one who noticed.

yea ive noticed that , SOE is more dedicated to fixing the game and stopping cheats (i never thought i would say that)

Man, these cheaters cant play one game without spending hours figuring out how to cheat on it.

PEOPLE, it's just a game...

amen to that , cheats should be instant ban if discovered and verified by SOE.

They should run a trace on the cheater, and broadcast their adress across all empires on all servers. Chances are there is someone reasonably close that can get a baseball bat and knock the shit out of the guy. If not, ban them.

Saw a guy in the NC shooting range on Johari a few days ago moving incredibly fast in his max suit, firing at an impossible rate, etc.. He was firing so fast that he got out about 4-5 shots before the sound effect for the first one was finished. This was the first time I saw someone speedhacking, and sadly, it happened after the supposed speedhack hotfix at the end of last month. Seems kinda sad that they have to cheat in a simple video game, but hey, if the world was full of winners, who would be left to make fun of?

I think I've heard of a total of one or two people banned so far for cheating, out of the dozens, if not more, who do actually cheat on a daily basis.

If nobody gets punished for it, how are people expected to feel motivated not to do it? Buying a new copy of the game every time a cheater gets caught would add up right quick.

most of these can probably be attributed to the laptop bug. I couldn't give you the precise details on how it works, but it seems that laptops have something relating to processor speed that PCs do not, and that particular capability coupled with all of the activity client-side in planetside (movement, HIT DETECTION[gawd I love that last one], doors opening) allows them to 'cheat'.

I tested it out on the Test server in VR once and sent the program and video to SOE, I couldn't believe how easily it was done

They fixed some bug that allowed this soem time ago. It was to do with a program that changed the window system speed for a application.

After the hotfix (which was delt with very quickly by SOE) there was no more occurences of super fast people.

I hope they have not found another way of doing this. It would not suprise me though.Ive not seen it yet, but if i do, im getting screenshots of the sucker.

Not that I use this hack, but they are all the same hack. Anything you see that is faster than normal is done with the same hack.

SOE did implement a check for the program that does the hack during startup. Well, the work-around for that was to start up the hack program after PS starts (I guess they didn't think to check registry entries to see if the program was installed  ).

The way the hack works makes it difficult for SOE to fix because *this time*, it is not something in thier code. However I can say if they had designed the system differently, so as the client-side is not soley responsible for calculating position in the world, this could have been avoided.

Yea, Screenshots are nothing. You need a movie to show proof.
