Ok, I know you've all heard it before. "GRIEF IS DUMB!!!N3RF IT!!" and stuff like that. but the REAL problem with grief is how its based on # of shots and not damage. Just to test it out, I was waiting around at a hack, and unloaded a few clips from the gauss on a galaxy. now, we all know that this hardly does any damage, in fact, its next to nothing. But I STILL ended up with a 3 minute weapons lock after 3 clips.
But if you take a CR5, and have him OS that same galaxy. he could get off with maybe 200 grief. I've seen it before, a vanguard shoots a shell at a friendly MAX and kills it, 50 grief. An infil slowly unloads the clip of a AMP on an agile. 200 grief.
I dont mean to whine, its just an observation.

I don't think the devs can program a grief system that will suit everyone, I feel the grief system is good atm, it doesnt grief people for accidental tk's or stray shots but it does help stop the tking
:) Although saying that 90 bullets into a Galaxy isn't going to be met with one or 2 grief points ;)

i OS'ed a full gal, i got 20 grief
i had already had 200, so i had 220
OS gives you VERY little grief

Right. So if you need to teach someone a lesson that disrespects you, use a Rocklet, its much lighter on the Grief. Dont use boomers tho. A guy kicked me out of his deliverer once in the middle of nowhere like a jackass to make it squad only, so I figured I would pay back that favor and make sure his Deliverer limped crippled to its destination. One boomer and I got like 150 grief in 1 shot

This makes perfect sense. The more times you go out of your way to hurt a friendly, the more grief you get. Emptying three clips into a gal SHOULD get your more grief than a single orbital strike.

os causes all the damage at once, negating the multiplier, thats why it's such low grief.
ex: if you slowly shot a team mate with a amp it would get higher with each shot, i you just ran him over, you would get alot less.
I dunno guys, prowler shells give 50+ grief per hit while repeaters are like 8 or 10, and the grief from plasma grenades varies quite a lot.

I'm not whining and saying they should change it, its just an observation. Although I think grief should be based on damage, not # of shots, I dont want the devs to go out of their way to change it. I'd rather get Core Combat a little sooner, thank you. :D

Just curious but what does a pounder shell do? I mean how much grief is given for it. (personal belief but I think pounders should have much lower grief setting it happened to me all the time when I used a pounder I'm locked down in a pounder and some idiot runs out in front of me and I get griefed).

On an account with 0 greif ANY single shot can give you at MOST 10 greif. It's simple to understand, but people don't get this. At some point after acquiring too much greif (I believe it to be somewhere between 150 and 200 from expirence) this number increases, explaining. Theoretically the current system works flawlessly, because (this is just one example of many) when you blow up an enemy AMS with a few myopic friendlies in it's blast radius, you recieve only 10 greif.
This is also a problem since you can boomer a CC full of agiles and get 10 greif for it.
The only time I find the greif system to be incompetent is when vehicles are concerned, if you drive side by side with a friendly vehicle, you will accumulate massive amounts of greif, though sometimes you will take no damage at all.

The only issue I see with the grief system is that when you get run over by a friendly vehicle, YOU get grief for it. Granted its not a whole lot, and shouldnt make a difference in the long run, but it still ads insult to injury.

This is, effectivly, saying that you would rather have people emptying round after round of clips into their team mates than have people accidentally kill some people with a vehicle or orbital strike.
I don't agree with the types of people you want the grief system to reward. I would much rather have people accidentally shooting me once, or running me over once than some jerk who keeps shooting my gal for 20 minutes straight with his punisher.
