Server merger?

I was on Konried earlier this morning and there were 23 TR logged on. 23. Ouch.

Do you favor the idea of merging Emerald and Konried into a new server, and Markov and Johari into a new server, and then creating a couple servers restricted to just 56k users?

I like the idea. If you don't, please don't kick my ass over it, I just felt like posting a poll.

I did a /who tr and instead of truncating the results at 25, it stopped at #23.

Well, I think that the whole server merging thing would be great and all, but what are they going to do about people who have the same name on different servers.

I guarintee (I know spelling is FUBAR) that there is someone on every server with the name h4x0r.

I still can't quite figure out what they would do about that...

Other than that problem, I'd be all for merging servers

The reason they haven't done it yet, is because they can't. I talked with a dev about it once, and he said they don't have the ability to do so. I'm sure they're hoping enough people will leave a couple servers so that they can close them and just start all new people on emerald or whereever.

Here's a thought:
Allow character transfers from the low population servers to a high population server.

They did it in DAoC for the test server and first PvP server. You may have to decide if you want to delete your characters on one server in order to not have empire conflictions on an account, but I think there are enough servers that even if you have characters on every empire, there is a server that you haven't played on or don't have any seriouse charaters.

I doubt they would close a server without compensating the players whose characters were deleted as a result. It would inevitably generate mass cancellations and much ill-will, neither of which the game should suffer.

good thing im on the one people prefer on west coast most - Markov i think but i dont think anyones taken my name and imkeeping it! i think they should merge tho

Do a /who tr, vs nc etc.....list stops at 25 for each empire....Also /who teams gives world % of players from each empire all somewhat helpful.

Not really.
The first 25 from each side doesn't tell you anything. If the list stopped before 25, then you'd know something. And know the percentage of each population doesn't tell you how many people are online either. It only tells you the percent of each empire to the total amount of players online. There could be 100 players on that server, or there could be 5000 players on that server.

emerald hasnt had a yellow dot for months...

a server merge would help out quite a bit, but people will multiple characters would get screwed (for ex, i have a br13 tr on markov, br16 vs on johari, br5 tr on konried, and a br20/cr4 nc on emerald).
