Saw this movie Friday.
Thought it was cool although some info on the vamps and lycans was a little off.
Discuss :p

Movie has a stupid premise

I thought the movie was stupid.
The action was sub par.
75% of the movie was boring and nothing was happening.
The most important plot devices were very predictable.
Most importantly, when I walked away from the movie there was nothing to discuss with the friends I saw it with. There was nothing more to discuss than, "That part with the blah blah blah was cool." No ideas were generatetd. No emotions explored in an interesting way. No philisophical issues brought up.
And yes, there were a number of Vampire mythology inaccuracies which I will not reveal here to avoid spoiling the movie.

AHA! Facts wasn't said. Info was! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
Information DOES exist on mythological creatures. Otherwise they wouldn't be myth, but just fake. There's a difference. One thing has meaning and exists in a way, the other doesn't

Was a good Movie.
Good blend of Action and Story. I was suprised about the story. Has some things you wouldn't expect. Some cool twists. Nothing too terribly ground breaking. But then it's getting really hard to get anything "new" now adays.

So if I made a movie about werewolves and near the end of the movie I start having the werewolves transform into sniper rifles and motorcycles you wouldn't call bullshit?
I am sorry but there are certain rules to follow if you want to call the creatures vampires or Lycanthropes.
If Vampires are doing things that have been consistantly impossible throughout Vampire mythology, they cease to be vampires. Why even call them vampires if you are not going to be consistant with the mythology.
Why not just call them some other name?

look you could have them do whatever the fuck they want... itdoesnt matter.. without facts nothing is really wrong, its all just an opinion... now it may seem wierd but it COULD happen hell I've never seen a vampire.. but I hear they can change into bats.. so why not mororcycles...

So if you saw a Vampire turn into a motorcycle and a sniper rifle you would not call bullshit. I rest my case.

I'd find it completely rediculous.. but not more so than anything else out there today.... so you find it to be bullshit that doesnt make it bullshit.. I mean this could easily go for religion... but let us not start that... vampires and wearwolves are enough for one thread... I mean come on... men that turn into giant wolf like beasts, need silver to kill em..... creatures that need to suck blood and can only go out at night.... i call all that bullshit...

So if I make a movie about greek gods and Hermes is the King of the Gods and Zeus is the messenger god, wouldn't you agree that there is something wrong.
It is just mythology. There aren't any "facts" about greek gods or mythology.
However you and I both know there is correct mythology and incorrect mythology. Just because you make something up off the top of your head does not mean that it creates continuity with other myhtology.

I heard Whitewolf is actually suing because the movie is a rip off of Vampire the Masquerade and Werewolf the Apocalypse
Note: The above is a rumor. I haven't even seen the movie yet :p

What is the difference? They are both mythology. They are both beliefs in the supernatural.
BTW, in case you haven't noticed, very few people worships Zeus or any of the greek gods anymore. It is not an entire peoples religion. I would say there are more people that worship vampires than Zues and company.
The movie was awesome, much better than Blade ever was.
And what "Mythical" information was wrong in the movie???

Other than Werewolves fighting Vampires. There was absolutely no relation to the Whitewolf's World of Darkness games. Anyone that saw the movie and knew anything about those games would agree.

I beg to differ. Underworld was pretty good, but not as good as Blade (I and II). The movie ripped off Blade. This doesn't give anything away, the Vampires die EXACTLY the same way as in Blade, they fade away like a cigarette. Rip off

And the fact that the Werewolves referred to the Vampires as wyrms.

In what way did the Underworld rip off Blade? Vampires were dying like that in movies a long time before Blade. Blade was just too cheesey for my taste.

Like I said it was a rumor and I haven't in fact even seen the movie ;) And the whole war between werewolves and vampires concept did as far as I can tell originate with Whitewolf. However that concept is way too broad to be considered grounds for legal action, which is why I found it funny.
And the fact that the Werewolves referred to the Vampires as wyrms.
If the wherewolves reffered to the vampires as wyrms then I'd have to say that's getting a bit shady. In Werewolf Vampires aren't necessarily wyrms. There is only one wyrm called "The Wyrm" and the whole idea behind Werewolf is they try to guard against his coming (what they view as the Apocalypse hence Werewolf: The Apocalypse) by protecting Gaia ( The planet the environment etc) by killing his agents and trying to stop the spread of corruption...bleh go buy the main book and read through it, I'm too lazy to go through it all here lol
Anyways while the vampires aren't actually the wyrm in Werewolf they are considered very powerful agents of the corruption of the Wyrm. Gimme a script. If they spelled worm "wyrm" then I'm going to say they were at the very least highly influenced by Whitewolf's works :p
I dunno even just watching the trailer I said to myself "Huh....that looks like Vampire the Masquerade: The Moive...". Then again one goth vampire setting is much like another goth vampire setting I suppose :p
Again I haven't seen the movie and am just going off what other people have said abou it. Maybe I'll get around to seeing it and then again maybe not /shrug
