Personally I prefer the Starfire. The jumpjets allow me a huge advantage as far as mobility. The best tactic is to use your jumpjets and auto run to stay away from enemy infantry and get yourself into position where you can still cover the battlefield and provide that needed AA support. Reavers that swoop in looking for a kill will often find me jumping to the side, all the while pumping plasma into them. I'll often take some damage, but 9 times out of 10 I'll be the one to get the kill.

Having been a reaver pilot for both the VS and the TR, I've honestly found the TR AA MAX to be the most dangerous when used by a good MAX pilot.
Reason being, no lock on warning and its hard to track back where the flak is coming from. After that I would say the VS Starfire since the buff, because you can fire off an entire clip, then lock on to an enemy ship, giving them very little time to react.
But in terms of all round utility I would rank it TR, NC, VS because the Burster and Sparrow are quite effective against infantry. The Starfire just isn't that good against anything other than aircraft (which is its design yes).
Just my $0.02.

No question. Sparrow. It rocks Aircraft, Infantry, MAXs and can take out turrets and vehicles as well ..and if that werent enough, it is only 2 certs

Sparrow is only half-decent against infantry, and just dead in a fight with another MAX(other than maybe another AA MAX) or armed vehicles.
It does it's job well though, fire-and-forget keeps those pesky reavers on the run and off your squad's back.
The Burster is the only AA MAX that is effectively used against infantry. Given that if they get within 5 feet your totaly fucked, but outside that range it can be devistateing. What are you doing playing a MAX without support anyways?

I think the Starfire does a decent job against infantry and MAX units at medium range. Outdoors I walk or jump backwards so I can keep my distance and plug away at them as they try to get close. This works pretty good unless they have a Striker or Phoenix. In that case running away is the best option.:)
