Read the NC report. It forshadows the near space expansion that Smokejumper was talking about.
Interesting.

Today's batch of new Core Combat information has been released! This week it is about Underground Battlefields. It consists of a short paragraph, some screenshots, and 3 flash videos of "intercepted transmissions." Here's the paragraph:
Hotspot Cyssor! Todays battle took a turn for the worse for all three Empires as they each sought to lay claim to the south west regions of Cyssor. During a fierce running battle between the Nzame Amp Station, the Tore Interlink Facility and the Leza Technology Plant each Empire suffered a security breach of their communications when the generator in each of these bases blew at the exact same moment. This coincidental triple explosion caused transmission signals to be scattered across the atmosphere, able to be received by enemy forces, a truly embarrassing situation for Empire commanders who staunchly relied on their ability to communicate freely, and in secret.
The transmissions can be found here (http://planetside.station.sony.com/corecombat/battles.jsp).

Meh, pretty screenshots, but not very interesting. All three data uplinks said the same thing... I was hoping we'd get a rundown on what kind of building types/areas we'd see down there, like the "stasis towers", the crystal locations, and an explanation on how the ziplines work.
Not bad, but not worth the wait.
[Edit: Then again, those screenshots are REALLY pretty :-) Gonna be some sick tank combat in the passageways between the clusters. Picture 6 out of 12... Router telepad in action...?]

o yea I noticed that too. I guess all the expansions will take to a different battleground and move on in the War of Auraxis.

I like the suggestion that Auraxis isn't a natural planet but an alien (read: Vanu) construction and possibly even a weapon - think deathstar heh

Yeah, the reference that it could be a control center is kinda remenicent of Halo.

planet...weapon..*cough* Halo *Cough*good interesting ideas from the Dev team. But i would like to see significant optimizations in how RAM is handled in planetside. Other optimzations and then ship those with the game. So more people can play. PS is a system hog in the life of a MMOG significant optimizations can be made.

Optimizations can be made I'm sure, it's just that planetside takes up some much memory and has to display so much data at once that makes it harder to do those things. And this is a fast paced first person shooter not something like EQ. And since it's online you have a good connection, good grahics card to handle video lag, and more RAM. I would rather have new updates then optimizations, but I also want more people to be able to play and have a better time.

I have 1gig pc2700 dual channel RAM, a p4 2.8 OC'd over 3ghz, a Radeon 9800 PRO 128mb and a 1mb cable conn ... and I STILL have low frame rates on occasion (to be fair I do play with all gfx setting on full) I found the best tweak was to reduce AA and AF in the display options.
Optimisations need to be made IMO.

i have AMD Athlon 2400+ , 512MB of PC2100 , G4 Ti4200 (64MB)
which gets 30 fps in big battles which is very playable not as good as i would like (60) it almost never goes below 20 and when it does i go somewhere else unless im doing really good.
I am getting Radeon 9600 Pro or something like that for christmas so it would probably help but its still no excuse that even high end comps (above 2Ghz) still experience bad slowdown like experienced in PS. Cards have all this ram for a reason to be used in a good way not a fucking pig.

never thought of that oh well the game industry is full of the rip offs and cash-cows. Which brings me to an off topic point, Developers need to get new ideas (the sims) great gameplay but damn thats WAY to many expansions. Also another point all these games that say its the new Halo or its the new game that will make your forget about the really good game a year and a half ago. Ok sony is makeing a game called killswtich or something i might be thinking of something else. This is STUPID you just cant say its gonna be the next big thing all of the games that i know of that have tried to do that have failed from poorly executed ideas. The Good Way:Call of Duty-It never said anything about being better than MOH:AA and being from the talented producers from the 2015 game studio made a great game. That is better than MOH:AA, with all the atmosphere of the game...ok ill stop talking about COD. A bad example is Brute force xbox fanboys said "OMG OMG!!!!!!1 d00d its the new hal0!!1". and brute force sucked until you get a retail copy fanboys should shut up. Anyone else agree?

wow that last post was really messed up
1. Fanboys need to be quiet , if you like something great , dont preach to us.
2. The industry needs to stop being greedy and do something good with their skills like made a good game and make it sell just cause its a good name not like the sims where they use their skills to make a game that only appeals to teenage girls and a few guys.
Kudos, to all the innovative developers that give us good games almost every moth since the begining of 2003.

Games rarely live up to their hype, it's the one's that stay quiet then sucker punch you when it goes retail that are memorable. Why? because you have no expectations to be let down on.

another good point exactily what Battlefield 1942 did. No one before then never heard of DICE the only game they made before that was some barbie game for GBA and out of nowhere comes the biggest online game of 2002

I'm guessing spec assault and hand grenades will be king in CC, the Punisher will probably get a spike in usage while HA should take a nosedive which should be a great thing. From those SS it definetly looks like your gonna have to hold the high ground in CC, hopefully that will lead to more coordination and teamwork at both the individual, squad and hopefully platoon level..

Funny this, PS runs fine on my Athlon 1900 with a GeForce Ti4200, but the Radeon users all seem to struggle, even the fast ones. I do have 1gb of PC3200 though, which helps.
