I know this is a dead horse, but it is pretty damn disgusting how they've included ads. Granted, they may be pretty subtle - but having an intel logo slapped onto the loader kind of ruins the atmosphere.

SOE get shedloads of cash from our (overpriced) monthly payments, they get shedloads of cash from the copies bought in stores, and yet they continue their greed by tapping every last resource of their game in order to gain money. I honestly would not be surprised if the sides of towers had posters such as "Buy Coca-Cola!" and the empire billboards inside the HART station were replaced with ads before long.

Wrong. I can't say I know the exact figures but i guarantee it's somethign like for every 5 dollars from advertisement 1 cent goes into development, if that.

Meh, the pentium ad has no effect on my gameplay at all therefore I couldn't care less about it. It it was something that they were putting on buildings and vehicles and the backs of soldiers then yeah I'd be upset, but I'm usually not even looking at my screen while I wait for continents to load so I don't even notice it most of the time.

So basically, it's an advertisment that's smaller than a matchbook and is only on the screen when you aren't playing the game at all, simply waiting for it to load. Why get worked up over it?

It's an ad on the loading screen between continents that's about the size Hamma indicated in the very bottom right corner that has a pentium logo on it and say "Runs great on Pentium 4" or something to that effect. I'd get you a screenshot, but nowhere to host it and I'm at work right now :lol:

Honestly, it didn't bother me THAT much. (When I still played) But it still kinda irked me a little. Putting ads in a game is pretty much sticking ads for another product DIRECTLY on your product.

It just doesnt make sense! You want people to like YOUR product, not some by product that may or may not enhance your game.

But as much sense as this doesn't make, it's still only one small ad that doesn't show up during gameplay. If it popped up in a window making the mouse cursor appear consistently evety 10 minutes, THEN I'd be pissed.

Intel paid thousands of dollars to put that ad in there. that money's going to something. I dont think Sony's accounting department is bad enough to have it sent to the new DVD Players Sony's making.


That money STAYS in the SOE budget. Sony gets enough money as it is, I doubt they'll have to scavenge every dollar they get and send it through budgeting hell.
