Free gametime / buying PS 2nd hand?

Hello.

When PS is finally released, how many days/weeks/months free subscription do you think we'll get?

Also, do you think registration will be based solely on the player's personal details, or will there also be a CD-key / unique id in the manual?

I.e. will I be able to buy a 2nd hand copy of Planetside and use that to register if I choose to pay the monthly fee?

(Don't like thought of spending �40 on a game and then a week later, realising I don't want to subscribe to it).

im betting that we'll get the first month free, and will need a CD key so your gonna hafta buy the game up front. maybe in a couple years they will give out free copies of PS and have you pay for time. like they do with EQ now.

Im sure they will go with the Industry standard of one month free. And I'm sure its a CD key.. you will probably have to start out with a new copy.

E&B required you to pay for at least a month but you'd still get a month "free". Good diea to keep out all the people who'll jsut rip them off after a month.

40$ or more for the game in the first place. The first month should always be free and included in the price. It is ONLY playable online with an account after all...

Here's how it works:

When you buy PS, on the CD case you'll have a CD key. The CD key is used to register an account which you have to have if you want to play. Once the CD key is used to create an account, it can never be used again.

So, yes, you can get PS second-hand, but you won't need the CD key from the first person's copy. You'll need their account ID, and account password, and of course the PS software (but you can get that from anyone, as it's all the same). You need to be wary of buying someone's account, though. Very easy to scam people by changing the account password before the buyer gets it (and after you get his cash), and some scammers even call in their account as being hacked/stolen, and use some sort of safety measure the company providing the service has in order to retrieve their account from you.

Long story short, don't use second-hand MMOG accounts unless you know the guy in person, or he's a good online friend, or someone else you can trust. Scamming people out of their MMOG accounts is a big thing these days, so you need to watch your ass when you're doing this kind of thing.

You will get one month free when you buy the game. I saw this printed on an empty Planetside Box they had at an Electronics boutique.
