So... i think i have jury duty but i lost the notice. I'm pretty sure I had to do something tomorrow, but I don't know what.
It was a notice saying I had been selected and yada yada yada. I meant to call them up and tell them in in the service so no can do (the total jury duty thing was supposed to last like 9 months). I forgot and lost the paper.
Does anyone know:
1. What court/section I call to talk to someone who knows something about this?
2. What happens if I miss a jury duty appointment?

Its a federal offense if you miss it as far as I know.
As to how you can find out if you have it, beats me

1. Not sure.
2. Not much/nothing.
Interstingly enough my younger brother was chosen for jury duty. Of course since he's only 17 that's probably not going to happen
If you have a local city hall, they should be able to help you. Or if you can find the local courthouse, ditto.

Or if you can find the local courthouse
I'm pretty familiar with the local courthouse, I think I remember how to get there ;)
Do you know what court? District? Circuit? I guess they both use juries so it could be either. Damnit.
BTW: I got one of you telling me it's a felony. The other one telling me not much. Tekky doesn't want another felony charge. My seargent wouldn't be too happy with that :(

Usually when you are called its to duty in another district/town
Really, the local courthouse should be able to tell you what's up. If duty isn't there, they can easily find out where you should be going.
And yes, NOT showing up is a Bad Thing (TM).

I concur with hamma.
It is a felony to miss.
I have only gotten jury duty once and I told them I was a Libertarian and they sent me home minutes later ;D

everything you need to know should be on the summons sheet (where to call, where to go etc...) I happend to be called for and selected last july, it sucked... it was a 1st degree murder case... quite fucked up and I hope I never have to do that again....

It's a felony to miss.
Calling the courthouse should work.
A lot of times you never even have to go. I've been called up twice and both times the case ended up being settled out of court.
If it does happen, when they pull you up for selection, take George Carlin's advice.
"Tell them you would be perfect for Jury duty because you can tell weather somebody is guilty or not just by looking at them. It has to do with how close together their eyes are."

Shut up, Hamma :p
Ok, I called up and it turns out I haven't been summoned yet for jury duty. What I got was a notice saying I had been selected and that I could be summoned between now and april something.
The lady said I couldn't get out of it early, but that when I went to basic they would let me go.

all that matters it that he's guilty, if its not that kind of case, see what kind of deals you can get from both sides.
