As it stands most players get certs so that they are effective against infntry armour and air units. And chaging their current loadout is only an AMS or equip panel away.

What if some certifications prevented you from getting other certifications.

For example all certifications become 1 of 4 classes (not incl armours and some generic certs woudl remain avaible to all like AMS)

Anti-Inf (e.g. sniper, heavy assult)
Anti-Vehicle (e.g. lancer, Vanguard [vehc] )
Anti-Air (e.g Air MAX , sky guard [vehc] )
Support Systems (hacking, medical)

once you take certs in one class you cant take certs from any of the other 3 classes. Thus your roel becomes a specilised one making u an expert in one of the 4 classes.

Of course downside to this it that many cert combinations that people current like will not be possible.

But hey its just an idea,

its has some good sides and some bad sides.
probably the kind of thing that would be fun for a week or two and then get changed back due to the excessive whinning ;)

Or being excessively dumb so lets see if I decide to take medical and engineering I can never pick up my anti air weapons or vehicles again. Most of thse cert package cost 9 points on average to get all the certifications. I have an idea, while were at it lets change the name to Planetquest and call it even.

It seems like i'm going a lot of bashing on people lately but these peoplke come on and go "Whouldnt it be great if we had flying super reavers with tripple the armor and an infinate supply of rockets if your empre collected all the pieces of the triforce and combined it with the 7 vanu runes." To which my answer is generaly "HELL NO GO AWAY!"

n00b (great name btw) i think he was talking to the original poster. Onto my post...

You can't cram teamwork down peoples throats. You can't say, if you don't have X class you can just go home now, you'll never accomplish anything. What you have to do is make it so you can get by without X class, but if you do have one you'll have more options and you'll generally have an easier time accomplishing your goals. This would fall under the former.

You know whats even more irritating Black, someone who lives only to put people down, who cant even form an opinion just does a stupid overused smiley over and over and over. Dear god I am glad people like you are not the guardians of free speach.

In response to N00B's post:

I actualy rather enjoy MMORPG's however they do tend to pigeonhole people into certan roles. Planetside is not one of those, for starters I am an advanced medic and an engineer, but I am a rifleman first. The order i got my certs in was this. Medic, engineer, medium assault advanced medic, special assault ams etc. I have always been a support guy but I refused to be be impotent on the battle field just because I ran into a max.

So heres what we got on this thread, Phase has some ideas, I dont agree with them but Ideas should be judged on merit and weighed and measured, the value of putting forth ideas can never be diminished. N00B agrees with me although he has a slightly difrent take, ok fine. Incompetent also agrees he's just a little more subtle then me, Black is a hopeless troll who comes on to hurl insults and post smileys. Those who guess whos not adding anythign to the thread and who is going to wind up on my ignore list very quickly gets a cookie.

There is absolutely no reason for something like this. The point of the game is to have a good time, hence the term "game". Forcing people to rely on others, or be stuck picking their asses because the enemy brought no air/vehicle support has got to be one of the worst ideas I've ever heard.

I realy don't thinks its a good idea. I like this game because i can do a little bit of everything, or decide to stay focused on one thing if i want. I snipe, i have HA, i have AV, i have Enforcer(or ATV somthimes), soon i might have Skeeter, and i have engeneering. I can fill anyroole i need to be filled, but most of the time i just decide what i want to do that day and do it exclusively or i do what my squad needs most, thats waht this game is about teamwork.

exactly, rbstr. MMORPGs have their place, and many, many people enjoy their more organized and planned out leveling up system, but the beauty of Planetside is the joy and simplicity of versatility. It should stay that way, IMHO.

Not a hornets nest. Just harsh criticism of a poorly thought out idea. It's not only that it's something that isn't needed, it's something that would piss off a good portion of the player base by arbitrarily changing one of the fundamentals of the game for absolutely no reason.
