ahh yes, the Mel Gibson deal. Been allot of controversy about this one and its still not sched to release until next year. I'm not into any form of religion at all, but I will probably see this.. looks like a moving movie.

I didnt watch the trailer cause im at work but this could definitely be worth seeing. I've always dug the stroy of christ from a literary/historical perspective. The controversy around it seems to be almost manufactured. If they're telling the traditional Catholic story, comparing it to "The Last Temptation of Christ", as people see to be doing, is a dissevice to both films. In the end it will probably do a bit better than expected because of the controversy. Your average movie goer will just be bored by it. It may exite me but alot of people will see that its in Latin, Hebrew and Aramaic with subtitles and be turned off instantly.

I read somewhere that Mel Gibson's company is marketing this in Europe on their own. I just skimmed it but I imagine it's too avoid censorship.

I also heard the jewish state is a little pissed about the movie due to the potrayal of **** in the crusifiction of christ.

There have been accusations, by people that haven't seen the film, that this is an antijewish fild, but not one person that HAS seen it so far, says that.

Take your pick on what teh truth is.

Historically, the Jewish leading counsel DID persecute Jesus, and they sent him to the Romans to be crucified, because Judaism didn't allow it.

It's realism, not racism.

Indeed. I've always been confused as to why **** get upset about the portrayal of the **** role in Christs execution. Its not like it was all the **** as a nation rising up to betry him and I've never seen it portrayed as such. And I mean, Christ was jewish.

UMMM

Because the excuse of "Christ Killers" has been used to justify everything from the inquisition to the Holocaust.

As a matter of fact along with fun swatzikas the term Christ Killer is the most frequently thing used to deface a synagog (and no I can't spell )

That being said, I'll be going to this one for sure. As to the jewish reaction, frankily, it's just like germans trying to say that the holocaust was someone elses fault.

History is history. Deal with it.
